Organics Studio Nitrogen

Terrible smearing. Totally unusable ink. Yes, it sheens a lot. Its like a teal powder that gets on everything, clings to everything. Really disappointed that I bought this, and cannot recommend it in the least.

Love this review.
Reminds me of my favourite weather forecast:

Thanks for the review. I dislike badly behaved inks and can't be bothered with the fuss however nice they might look.

I tried this ink twice from two different vendors 6 months apart.  Both bottles were blue-green regardless of the pen or paper, and never looked as blue as in the vendors’ pics or in FPN reviews.   As the OP noted, little particles from the bottle or paper seem to get on everything, although usually unseen. Later, when touched inadvertently, you find blue green dots/smears on your hands, clothing, papers for days afterward.   It’s been a very disappointing ink for me.

Thanks from me, too. Spouts out my own misadventures with the same ink -- and others of that family.

Good note here: No ink is completely useless; you can always use it as a bad example....

Didn't Goulet Pens choose this to top their list of BEST INKS? 🧐😬

I think a lot of people rate it by sheen, and it has a boatload of it for sure. Diamine Majestic Blue is a nicer ink, usable, more saturated, does not have the funky teal, blue green shading, but it has a more muted sheen. I should do a quick review of that sometime. Btw, if someone wants, I would be willing to mail out a few samples of this. If you can send me a sample of some other ink in turn, great, but not required.

I don't own Nitrogen but I do own Diamine Majestic Blue, which I found prone to skip, dry up fast, and clog. Maybe I got a bad batch, but it put me off Diamine for a while when I first started buying a variety of inks. It's a lovely colour, at least!

Sargasso Sea put me off Diamine, but Oxblood is a great burgundy.

Thanks for the review! I've had problems with OS and other newcomers.   More and more these days, I'm sticking to the classic inkmakers like Waterman, Pelikan, Diamine....

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

I avoided Sargasso Sea due to the negative reviews. Oxblood is a favourite of mine- Diamine is the undisputed champion of burgundies, offering a variety of excellent ones.

Thanks for the review, short and sweet indeed but I have to somehow disagree - well... depends on when you ask me. 🙂

This ink is difficult to handle and smears everything it touches, as you mentioned but the results can be amazing.

I wouldn't use this ink in a daily writer for sure - Colorverse Supernova would be my choice for that (see below).

I am fond of sheen (and shading) and OS Nitrogen is probably one of the top performer in the field - nice saturated blue, no teal artefact here and sheen on almost any paper and nib size.

I had a good experience with this ink and a flex pen / ebonite feed. In another (cheap) pen with a medium nib my biggest issue was the nib drying too fast.

Not my picture here but this is what you can expect from this ink:

28468544_1588239041259422_1762381249226587686_n.jpg?_nc_cat=110&ccb=1-3&_nc_sid=2d5d41&efg=eyJpIjoibyJ9&_nc_ohc=4qGGJjydaeYAX94VafD&_nc_ht=scontent.fbru5-1.fna&oh=f3651292f762c1f543514c156ee0b517&oe=60FB3414

Cleaning the pen is another issue but that is the case for many very saturated inks as well. Sonication helps for the converted and dismantling the pen allows you to completely clean the nib/feeder/housing. I would use that ink in a demonstrator... only if I planned to dedicated the pen to this ink.

I do not own diamine Majestic blue but here are some blue inks I tested that have lots of sheen:

  • LCdC - Bleu cuivré (just bought it, looks very very good so far)
  • Akkerman - Shocking blue (no issues so far considering the amount of sheen, beautiful blue)
  • Diamine - Bloody brexit, Skull & roses (rich and dark, no particular issues)
  • Diamine - Maureen (very good considering the amount of sheen you get)
  • KMZ - Sheen machine (similar behavior than OS N2)

And on a safer side but with less sheen

  • Diamine - Sargasso sea (bit of smearing)
  • Monteverde - Ocean noir (nice but a bit too dark for me - behaved very well)
  • Colorverse - Supernova (I love it and used half a bottle without any issue so far in a Ti medium stub nib, just amazing)
  • Diamine - Blue velvet (might switch to this one, seems nice in broad wet nibs)

Waiting for a Van Dieman's bottle of Blue ringed octopus...

Should make a comparative someday 🤔

Sargasso Sea and Majestic Blue always behave well in my F nib pens but really high sheeners like Nitrogen might be better controlled by slightly diluting with water.

A few drop of water might help indeed! 🙂

Diluting Nitrogen with Supernova works as well... or should I put it the other way around, add a few drops of Nitrogen in Supernova gives nice results.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
