Can you make DIY inks from paint pigments?

I've recently picked up of a massive collection of paint pigments on a flea market. After some research, I'm still unsure whether I can make some decent ink out of those. Besides that, I'm also completely new to the ink DIY scène. 

 

Couls you perhaps help me out here?

The short answer is no you can't at least in a home environment. You would need several chemicals, not just water, and even then you would be very likely to block the very fine ink channels in the first fountain pen you inked up with one.

Okay, so you could technically do so, if you manage to grind them up extremely fine. That will indeed be highly unlikely to achieve in a home environment, and entail the risk of damaging any pen you choose to ink with them. 

 

Thank you for the swift replies. Maybe I can still make some calligraphy ink with it, if I ever decide to venture forth in that direction.

In general what i've learned from reading is this:

 

Fountain Pen Inks use DYES.

 

Caligraphy/Dip Pen inks use Pigments.

 

Exceptions being the "carbon" or "pigmented" inks specifically made for fountain pens, ex: Platinum Carbon Black
