Are metal bodies more durable than plastic ones or the opposite?

Metal, no beating physics , impact strength, tensile strength, plastic limit, its just basic material science

Kaewco’s steel pens seem to do pretty well when knocked about with other hard objects (keys, coins).  It gets scratched for sure, but doesn’t look bashed-up. Brass, copper and aluminium are much softer.

 

Anodising makes a hard surface layer, but the underlying aluminium remains soft.  Any knocks or dents will be quite visible.
