Hi! my Montblanc 252 clip fell off. The jewel is screw on but I would like to know if I should just screw it back on or do I need to glue it on with shellac? Thank you for your help

It needs to be screwed back on to be repaired properly. Glueing it on with shellac isn't an option.

Screwing it back in should do the trick. Try to put the pressure on the top of the jewel, rather than the edges, to avoid breaking the surround. Don't over-tighten, but see if you can 'nip' it up at the end of the thread and it should remain tight. A piece of rubber mat may help with this operation.

 

I warn about over-tightening, as these are very fragile jewels. I've had a few which have lost the black surround (which is very thin and delicate).

First of all it`s important to make sure if threads are not damaged. If they are, jewel will fall off again and again. Especially if clip is bent too much, so it tends to pull the jewel out.  

Glue is extreme option, connection must remain separable.

Thanks all for the help with my Montblanc pen clip that fell off. It is now installed with your help and tightened but not too tight.
