Extra Fine Nib Ink Review: Robert Oster Forest Green

This is review #92 in my series.  Here's the YouTube video:

Post-recording notes: The green is a little brighter than the photos show.  Zoom is closest.  The scan (new) is sort of close, but too bright and yellow.  Greens just don't photograph or scan well, for some reason.  Cleaning was quick and easy.

And here is a screen of the final result, for those not interested in the video:

Thanks Liz - excellent as always!

I like the colour (I like green :)), but since I have both the other inks referenced in your comparison, I don't think I need this one. At the moment...

Yeah, I have so many in this arena that I won't buy buying a bottle - it's not murky or unique enough.  But it's pretty and I'll be enjoying it while the sample lasts. :)

This looks like a nice green.  Thanks for the review.  And, well, not....  :wallbash:

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Lovely green - thank you for showing it. Looks a bit darker and less yellow-green than “Verde de Rio”, which has the same “spring season” effect on me. This type of green really appeals to me, it’s a colour that for some reason lifts my spirit whenever I look at it. Have to look at my stash of RO samples to see if it’s in there somewhere...

... Yes, that seems like a good comparison.

For me, this effect is accomplished by Robert Oster Green Lime (a substitute for Caran d'Ache1 Delicate Green).

1It has bothered me for some time that this company's name is the same (in sound) as the Russian word for pencil (карандаш, transliterated as karandash).  I thought perhaps the Russians got their word from the French.  This morning I did some looking and discovered it's the other way around, the company name came from the Russian word for pencil (Wikipedia article).

Yep...

And there's rumour that maybe they don't make their own inks.

There's an interesting chapter in Ted Bishop's book, Ink, about his visit to the Caran d'Ache, company...

Looks like a nice green, and shading?  Short dry time is a plus.  Thanks for another review.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

Yes, plenty of shading - Robert Oster seems to be a master of shading inks.  :)  You're very welcome.

Good to know! Makes me all the more excited for my "Caffe Crema" delivery to arrive!
This ink is very nice, but I was gifted a bottle of Penbbs ink that is the same color...so I won't be buying.
