Carrying a pen when you have no shirt pocket

clip the pen to your vest?

I haven't worn a vest since my aunt's wedding when I was 8. For work it's strictly business casual- business pants and a button down shirt.

Something like this http://paperwantsapen.blogspot.ca/2014/08/the-pen-pocket.html , however the person who sold these no longer makes them. I can't find anything else like it for sale.

I use a soft leather 2-pen case that slips into the front pocket of my slacks and jeans. Many times, I carry a pen clipped to the shirt placket but prefer to carry in a pocket.

Nice! Seems like something that a person with some skill could sew in a few minutes.

PS. I am not that person. ;)

Me neither, hence why I'm looking to buy. But if anyone can whip one up I'll buy a handful! If you're local to Toronto it'll come with a cup of coffee :)

For me, I always have a Kaweco Sport with no clip in my pocket.

Ive got one of those lying around somewhere, sometimes I take it with me when Im hitting the road for the weekend.

Generally Ive got my daily carry fountain pens on a leather pouch in my briefcase so theyre easy to grab at my desk. But I also carry a B pen with me either for sharing, jotting a note or a quick sign off. When Im dressed casually thats a Space Pen, but 5 days a week I like something a little dressier for work. So I clip a Duofold, Carene or Century rollerball or ballpoint in between my shirt buttons. But I hate under shirts so its pen on skin. Thats what Im looking for an alternative for.

And your button down shirts don't have pockets? That would be my first choice, if I have it available to me. Second, no pocket - such as a polo/golf shirt. I just clip whatever pen I have with me to the placket. T-shirts at the neck. That's annoying to me though, so I either don't carry (depending on expected need) or put in some sort of case in my jeans pocket.

I should have mentioned that- I dont like shirts with pockets. Clipping in between shirt buttons works, its just not super comfortable.

A red satin cushion with corner tassels and three pen pockets sewn into the top.

Anyway, as mentioned before I am happy to clip a pen to the placket of whatever I am wearing. In fact, it is such a habit that I tend to do it when I have a pocket available, for the pen currently in frequent use. Normally I carry pens in a 2-pen Visconti or Riviera case.

I leave the pens at home.

I will use the belt loop to keep the carrier attached to my belt. After losing too many pens, this is the only way for me even though it looks incredibly dorky.

I'd definitely use something like that if I could hide it under my shirt ;) I've got a few cases similar to that sans belt loop that I keep my EDC in. Aside of course from the naked ballpoint or rollerball that I'm looking for a solution for.

I think that might do the trick actually. Should be easy to conceal under a shirt. For the price I may give it a shot!

This whole thing would be easier if I could just use any old cheapo pen that's lying around for the job but I went and got myself spoiled in my distant past. Now it matters how I put ink to paper.

I’ve made a couple of sautoirs (the fancy name for lanyards) for my rotation of ringtops, which vary considerably in size and materials. A silk ribbon and some jewelry findings and Bob’s-your-Uncle.

I actually sketched out something very similar to the pen pocket but connected to two buttons. Sadly, the project died with my inability to sew. My wife loves sewing but she has too many half-completed projects to take on another.

I've tried just attaching a pen to the shirt but I've had a few pens with caps that managed to unscrew, resulting in either the pen hitting the ground and mangling the nib or ink getting all over my shirt.

I don't buy, or wear, shirts without pockets.
