What is on your bench?

I saw a recent article in the Pennant about the Parker wrenches to disassemble Vacs and 51s. There is a specific tool for aerometric 51s.

Longer ago in the Pennant I remember a how to on the mushy nipple problem.

I know Pentooling sells a collet for the aerometric 51s but it mentions something about it not working on all of them, so I wasn't sure.

Someday I may have the patience and skills, but not as of yet…

A Silver Canadian Maxima with illegible imprints. Sometime in its history the section was modified to accept a standard size nib. I have seen sleeves inside the section on early Vacumatics, but this is amazing  work.

A tapered sleeve collar was made to wrap around the smaller nib so that it infills the larger inner diameter of a Maxima Section. The section has also been tapered on the inside to receive the conical sleeve. I assume the diameter of the feed was also reduced to match the diameter of the nib. I can see that the underside of the feed is also tapered.

The sleeve collar may be about 1 mm thick at the thinnest edge.

It is a lot of precise work just to fit a standard size nib. I am not sure if it was made by a pen technician or a skilled DIY-er. The technician would have just swapped nibs.

I think I will just reassemble the pen and store it in the archive as-is.
