Asa Durga - History of the Name of the pen

We have all prayed to God for the country and the people in these bad times. The incidence of covid did not increase so much when it was thought to make this pen or create this group. Even now I see that the recovery rate is much higher. Everything is the result of our collective prayers. And after a while 'devi pakshya' will start. Puja of Goddess 'Durga' will start. 'Asura' means all the evil forces like Covid or all the darkness of our mind will be removed and the good energy will win. That is the meaning of the word 'Mahisasurmardini'.

We have seen the influence of Puranas in the name of some pens of Subbuji. For example, Bhishma. The name Durga is also found in the Puranas. This goddess is associated with the ancient culture of our country.

And another context, Subbuji spent his childhood in Calcutta. Durgapujo of Calcutta must have been a very good memory during his staying in Calcutta. I hope there will be a nostalgia and personal touch throughout with the name of this pen.

My personal experience -

 

Cost around - 2700-3000 INR  = 42 USD

Ebonite - Indian ebonite

Nib - JOWO Fine nib -  with MA Durga's eye engraved

Filling - Schmidt converter

Clip - Vintage Brash Clip - ball end

 

Plan - a group of 10-12 members decided to do this model during February /March 2020 just before the starting of the Nationwide lock down due to Corona / Covid 19.

 

Name is suggested - during October 2019 - during durga puja.

 

Outcome -  try to give some images of this beautiful pen.  

Nib - ASA pens always tuned the nib - and test the pen before dispatch.

Note - Dip test is not the proper way to test the nib.  ASA pens did it thoroughly. 

Hence out come of the JOWO nib wonderful.

 

I don't like to send my pen to some other NIB grinder with additional cost to make it my way - unless and until a specific tuning is required.

For general purpose writing - JOWO nib performs very well when it comes from the Lab of ASA pens.

 

Over all ASA pens is the most affordable Indian pen manufacturer - who does customization , only concern is that time.

 

Over all a wonderful pen.
