Sheaffer fountain pen repair station....

I don't know if I've ever posted this.  This is a picture of Richard Binder and I sitting in the fountain pen repair station in February 2008, about a month before it closed, and was transferred to the distributor in Philadelphia - for about 6 months.  We got to spend a full day in the service center, and saw an amazing amount of stuff.  Quite the eye opening experience.

Were either of you employees at any time, or was this just a visit?

Thanks for the photo in any event!

Nope, neither of us were employees.  Both of us working our own pen repair businesses were invited out to see the service center, and were to be designated repair centers for vintage pens.   How that played out, is an interesting story...  Regular Sheaffer service went back to Ft Madison 6 months after it was sent to the distributor in Philly.  We got a lot of vintage parts (pre 1982) but a lot of very useful parts never made it out.

Ah, so they were planning on outsourcing the repairs to you and then circumstances changed?

I imagine they also had some pretty impressive tooling in that shop...

Very nice picture!  I've done business with you both with great results.  Would love to see a current version of that picture once we're back to normal.
