Awesome! First to review the ink. :)

The low shading and feathering rule it out for me, which is a good thing. 😛

Vintage. Cursive italic. Iron gall.

Like most Japanese inks (Sailor, Platinum, Pilot, etc.) it tends to be wet for finely ground nibs. I haven't tried it in a very wet pen, so I can't say how it will work. I based my observation on a fine nib. I will try a stub at some point. It is pretty well behaved I think and has a good utilitarian blue black color.

thanks for review,

looks pretty light in swatch sample (for usual assortment of IG blue black lot) which is funny considering the writing is dark, in pics and some area seems to have some sudden drying especially in parts of "4/5" and in word "little" got me curious...or was the are water tested as that could also be the reason....Now honestly no color change in IG...could be that IG content is too low or oxidization time too high...how long was this dried..cos from my general understanding 2 days is max without any color change....could be wrong.

I think there are a couple of issues going on here. I don't some of the lack of color is due to my scanner not picking up the quality of the fine lines and I have been using a dip pen, which I think causes more oxidation in the nib than in a standard fountain pen. The "little" is light because I was running out of ink.

The TWSBI, much like the Platinum BB IG, doesn't appear to change much at all in color save a slight graying after initial drying. I don't think these inks contain much iron gall content.

That pretty much explained all, thanks for clearing.

I agree with you on IG content of these inks, I too think they might be bit lacking...for twisbi I kinda understand though, I mean they probably want ink that is at least possible to remove from their pens.

This image from Pulp Addiction is probably a more accurate representation of the color.

That looks quite appropriate, thanks for that.

  • 2 months later...

I have a bottle. In a fine nib, I find it writes pretty wet and I’ve not had trouble with feathering on cheap paper yet. Color is more on the blue side than grey. But not as blue as Pilot Blue Black ink.

Really nice ink for me. I do smell the iron gall ink smell from it, but I think it has a low IG content as others have observed.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
