Pen Sizes

Hi Folks. Could you help me to clarify which of the Sailor pen models are about the same size as the 1911L. I have a 1911 and a 1911L and like how the large fits in my hand and seems to suit my writing style. In what I'm reading, are all 21KT nibs the one that indicate that it's the larger Sailor?

Thanks for you help

Maybe for current production, but I have older pens in the 1911L size that do not have 21K nibs.

The ProGear SLIM 1911(S)

ProGear 1911L

Either with KoP (King of Pen) will be largest

The Realo (piston filler) variant appears to be "L" size.

There are 21k 1911s pens out there. I think they come only in black and maroon.

In any case, the nib being 21k doesn't automatically mean it's the bigger size pen.

I've never come across a 21k nib on a standard size Sailor pen. Do they really exist? I have a Pro Gear with a 21k nib as well as a Promenade and 1911 both if which have 14k.

Yes, they do exist.

They are sold under the name "Profit Standard 21". The "Standard" lets you know the body size/category and the "21" the karats of the nib.

Here is the regular "Profit Standard" with the 14k nib

This chart, available on the pages linked above, details body size and karats+size of the nib

Just checked pensachi, they have 4 1911s standard size pens with 21kt nib.

As mentioned above it includes black, maroon a limited edition demo and older version nahi Naya yogi nib in 21 kt.

So 21kt nib would not make it a 1911L by default.

This might help.

No. There are ('medium-sized') 21K gold nibs to fit the Sailor Profit Standard (aka '1911 Standard';'1911' in itself doesn't refer to a single model or form factor), larger 21K gold nibs to fit the Sailor Profit (aka '1911 Large'), and then larger-yet-again 21K gold nibs to fit the King Of Pen models.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
