Extra Fine Nib Ink Review: Rohrer & Klingner Blau-Schwarz

This is review #31 in my series. Here's the YouTube video:

Post-recording notes: Easy cleaning. Shading is better than the zoom shows. Also, if the color seems to tilt purple or green, it shouldn't - it's straight blue-black.

And here is a screen of the final result, for those not interested in the video:

Ahhh! Just my color, and Unobtainium.

Thanks.

Sorry. Blame the voters! ( :D I sound like a politician!)

Anyone wanna start the petition? I really wonder why they made this a limited edition - it's such a fabulous BB.

Yes, it's a shame that they don't have a regular blue black in their lineup. Verdigris is very teal/green to me and while many people say Leipziger Schwarz is a blue black, it is very black in my experience and only has some slight greenish undertones.

I really hope that they will bring out more regular colors in the future, but highly doubt it. Wouldn't mind some additions to the sketchINK line too!

Great review Liz. I saw the wizards took a break and we're back to fox and lazy dog......

I'm often weary of special edition "anything,".

And it hasn't changed now :P

Yeah, it is exactly this R&K LE which I wished they had "kept" and/or issued as a keepable in the first place. My very most favorite of all of their 7 LEs. I like it even more than any of their 20 "normal" 40***s.

Thanks! (And yeah, I'm having a hard time coming up with clever new things for the wizards, dogs, foxes, and sphinx to do! I need to find some inspiration.)

I agree with the whole special and limited edition dislike - very annoying - either the color was yawn to begin with, or it was so fabulous that it's utterly baffling why they wouldn't continue to make (a profit off) it.

Right? Fabulous ink. Sigh.

Another great review Liz.

Just my kind of color, why is it every time you find an ink that you really like - it is no longer available? :(

Maybe someone at Inky Recipes may come up with a "clone"

Have I done another LE? Looking...... Hmm. I think this is an illusion, or I'm missing something. Anywho, sorry to expose you to unobtainium - it is known to cause disappointment. ;)

And yes, a clone - commercial or otherwise - would be welcome! Noodler's FPN Van Gogh Starry Night Blue was the closest in my collection.

Here's the line width measurement. The line is one of those used for dry time.  Magnification is 100x.  The grid is 100x100µm.  The scale is 330µm, with eleven divisions of 30µm each.  The line width for this ink is roughly 270µm.

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.
    • Ceilidh
Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
