That's ADORABLE!  Love the poem and hope your girlfriend does too...

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Thank you for revivifying this thread! :D

Also, I am tagging @Bo Bo Olson, to show him that it is actually possible to squeeze some shading out of 4001 Dunkelgrün!

All you need is a vintage Parker UK Duofold with a bouncy 14k nib!
(Yes: I am posting this solely in order to 'enable' Bo Bo into buying a vintage British pen!)

Slàinte,
M.

As the area in which I live has been paralysed by the overnight fall of a few inches of snow (:headsmack:), here's a poem that has a wintry theme; 'Up in the Morning Early' by Robert Burns:

large.UpintheMorningEarly-RobertBurns.jpg.7b8796331f463868af39dc7eac300480.jpg

If you are having trouble reading this, it will help you to know that the words are written in 'Scots' - a Scottish Lowlands dialect of the English language.
Burns wrote his poetry in that dialect, and it will help you to enjoy the poem if you read it to yourself in a Scottish accent.

The text of the poem is:

Cauld blaws the wind frae east to west,
The drift is driving sairly;
Sae loud and shrill’s I hear the blast,
I’m sure it’s winter fairly.

Up in the morning’s no for me,
Up in the morning early;
When a’ the hills are cover’d wi’ snaw,
I’m sure its winter fairly.

The birds sit chittering in the thorn,
A’ day they fare but sparely;
And lang’s the night frae e’en to morn,
I’m sure it’s winter fairly.

Up in the morning’s no for me,
Up in the morning early;
When a’ the hills are cover’d wi’ snaw,
I’m sure its winter fairly.

I like the 'music' of this poem, and I very much agree with Burns' thoughts about getting up early in Winter!

Slàinte,
M.

      Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

      @asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

      There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.
    • Ceilidh
      Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

      Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
