Alt 0246 on the pad. This time it worked.

 

I really got to write down that ¢ number..alt 162 where I an see it easier....I have a half A'ed German keyboard, with home made markings. It is hard getting a pure US keyboard over here.

Have you tried Levenger Cocoa Brown?  I recently splurged bid & won a second NOS bottle for a reasonable price... and then of course found the bottle I thought I'd lost. I've opened the bottle and added more biocide (Liquid Germall Plus and Euxyl PE 9010) because preservatives don't last long at all past 6-12 months in aqueous solutions, even with a seal. If you're in North America, I would happily trade for ink samples you're not a fan of - there are sooo many inks I'd love to try.

I have recently been gifted a few more lovely brown ink samples and a mini-iroshizuku yama-guri... and I don't use nearly enough ink to justify having a second bottle - if you're familiar with Levenger inks (and their lovely built-in bottle cone inkwells!), it'd be lovely to get the ink into the hands of another fan of brown inks. Levenger's inks were not super shaders, no discernible sheen (in the colors I've tried), but lovely rich saturated warm colors, wet enough for flex nibs (with the right feeds), beautiful whether with stub/italic or dry EF/UEF nibs -- quintessentially middle-of-road and well-behaved!

 

I sort of suspect that Levenger paid Pelikan or Waterman to make their inks for them - they've got a lot of similarities!

Pilot Iroshizuku Tsutsuji. I love red/pink inks. I found the ink pretty wild on IG because it looks different to me depending on the pen/nib/paper. I never bought any because I thought it was close to Pelikan Edelstein Star Ruby. Then I found out Pilot discontinued it. So I bought a fomo bottle or two.

Platinum Carbon Ink. Pigmented rather than dye-based. I'm wondering how it will compare to Noodler's Heart of Darkness.  I'm going to use it in an inexpensive pen in case it stains. 😬😬

@davisgt, this has been my favorite ink for Japanese EF nibs.  It's well lubricated and is quite black. And in my case, it has been easy to use and clean out.  Good luck!

@davisgt That will be an interesting comparison (Heart of Darkness is sort of my go-to black ink, since it dries faster than the regular Noodler's Black and is pretty waterproof/lightfast).  I have a bottle of Platinum Carbon Black but haven't gotten around to trying it yet.

Oooh. I could use it in my new Platinum President with an EF nib. Black pen. Black ink. That sounds lovely.

You should Ruth, it's a fabulous black ink.  I keep a 149 on my desk at work inked in black for documents that require a signature that has Platinum Carbon Black in it most of the time - about every third time I fill it though I find myself reaching for Iroshizuku Take-Sumi (my second favourite 'black' ink) to give it a bit of a rinse - really not sure if that has any benefit at all but alleviates my fear somehow that the inside of my pen doesn't resemble an old pirate's tar-infused lungs..

 

BPC 'Gunpowder', MB 'Mystery Black' and Diamine 'Onyx Black' are others that I use and like.

Well, I'm not much for black inks just in general (even back growing up, except in the occasional calligraphy class -- I much preferred blue ink over black in ballpoints.

I like HoD for its permanence and water resistance.  I like Take-sumi for its je ne sais quoi  qualities (looking almost tactile and three dimensional on the page).  And I used to really like modern Quink Black -- especially in my first semi-vintage pen, a Parker 45 with a 14K medium nib -- put that ink in that pen and it was like dancing on ice across the page.
