Another great ink from Sailor! 😊

Indeed.  This and Seiboku are my preferred permanent inks.

I’m on the fence about it. Was given a box of carts of this ink recently and put one into a Pro Gear Slim MF. I find it to be a very well-behaved ink but I can’t find beauty in it (yet?). Some of the original reviews here on FPN impressed me with the ink’s understated richness (if I might call it that) but what I’m seeing now is a rather monotonous grey with a hint of dark blue.

So far my favourite Sailor inks remain the first ones that I ever tried: Jentle Blue (my favourite overall ink, and quite overlooked as the spectacular ink that it is), Souten and the amazing Kiwaguro. But perhaps Souboku will grow on me.

That's what I saw before I shook up the bottle.  Maybe the cartridges need a good shake before being inserted into the pen?

Thanks for the tip. I tried it, and it made the ink just a bit more blue-ish, which is good. Here’s a comparison with Diamine Indigo on Rhodia paper, a 600 dpi scan:

These two inks are very close, but I’d say Indigo is just a bit more lively and interesting.

Wow so similar. Diamine indigo is slightly more faded. I would say those who like more shading will go for Indigo....My eyes go towards Souboku...

Yes, that looks about right to me.  Like Yazeh, I like the Souboku color more.  But the Indigo looks lovely out of your nib! :)  Such nice shading.

Fantastic review, Liz!

I bought a box of cartridges from the Goulets when I purchased my Sailor 1911 Slim “4AM” (hard medium fine).  I use that ink exclusively in that pen.  Great pairing and love the permanence of the ink.

Thanks again for a great review!

Here's the line width measurement. The line is one of those used for dry time.  Magnification is 100x.  The grid is 100x100µm.  The scale is 330µm, with eleven divisions of 30µm each.  The line width for this ink is roughly 270µm.

To me, they're ink reviews. If I came to the site and searched a specific forum for ink reviews, I'd want these to be there. It would never occur to me to go to the "Of Nibs & Tines" or even "Japan - Asia" forums to search for ink reviews... If there were an explicit "All Things EF" forum, then, yeah, it might make more sense to put these there, but we don't have (unless I'm missing something) nib-size-specific forums.

Maybe they're not indexed because whoever does the indexing hasn't had time. But if they're not indexed because of some feature absent from the reviews, I still think they're better off here. If the mods think these belong elsewhere, they'll need to move the existing ones and let me know so I can put future ones there.

I think it best to keep replies in one place, so I will answer your question in this thread, as it already has an answer there, we can keep it all in one place:

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
