Staedtler 925-75 Drafting Pencil

Recommended Posts

I bought a Staedtler 925-75 in 0.9mm at the start of quarantine and I'm super impressed with it. The body is solid ABS plastic (like a lego), the grip is a little wider than the body and textured. It's very comfortable to hold and lightweight. The lead indicator is at the top rather than in the middle of the body which, to me, is an improvement.

I had thought I was done buying new pencils, but I may go ahead of pick up a 0.5mm version.

For those of you unfamiliar with the Staedtler 925 family of pencils, it's a variety of hosts all built around the same great internals.

925 - plastic body, rubber grip

925-15 - plastic body, rubberized grip

925-25 - metal body, silver

925-35 - metal body, blue or black

925-75 - plastic body, plastic grip, available in several colors

There might be more that I'm not aware of. I have all of these except the 925-15 and they're all excellent pencils.

Thank you for alerting us to this pencil. :)

The 925-75 is very similar to the Pilot s3. Weight and balance are similar, The plastic textured grips feel similar, but the s3 has a slight flare where the tip screws in to the barrel while the 925-75 does not, so if you like the s3 but don't care for the ridge where the tip screws on, maybe you'd like the 925-75 better.

Both pencils have very tactile clicks when advancing the lead, but the s3 is louder (if that matters to you).

Both are excellent pencils.

The 925-75 and the 925-15 both appeared on Jetpens recently. I'm guessing they're new models, but I don't actually know that.
