Waterman Allure 2020

Looks like Waterman brought back the Allure. I guess this is to capture the entry level market much like the Jotter. Never owned one, how does it write?

They added the pastel colours very recently, in the last few weeks.

I am quite happy with the Allure I bought.

Though they seem to only come in F (at least I had no other nib options).

No, unfortunately no converter, just the big blue cartridge, all in a nice paper box.

I hope that the Allure can use the short International cartridges & takes a standard converter, like a Schmidt K5. A proprietary cartridge or converter restricts your ink choice. Unless you use a syringe & blunt tip to refill that included cartridge.

Has anyone measured the diameter of the section? It looks rather slim, to suit a younger hand. If so it wouldn't suit my hand.

Any idea, where waterman pens are made?

 

In Bahrain I saw the cover of waterman Allure which is written "plumas Estilographia" made in China.

 

The shop directly get shipping from waterman. I am confused.

Older generation Allure (known back then, if I am not mistaken, as Graduate) were made in france. Newer are indeed made in China, as shown,which is not a bad thing per se, much like most of the entry level pens (and, for some, middle level) like Parker and Sheaffer.

I have recently purchased Waterman graduate alure fountain pen in stainless steel. I have purchased it on eBay from seler from USA. The pen came in blister pack without converter, with single long international Waterman cartridge which leaked into the barrel of the pen. This might have been my mistake because I didn't inserted the cartridge well since the pen is working well with short cartridges. Spare cartridge could be kept in the barrel of the pen. Schmidt K1 converter fits in the pen, but I didn't used it.

Anybody knows about the history of this model of pen? And yes, this pen is made in China.

I didn’t actually measure it, but the pen is slim.  In fact, that’s why I returned it - rather too narrow for me.  I got mine in “camouflage”: nice metal body, excellent ink flow, smooth F nib (although I am more of an EF person).  Good weight and length, well made and a very low price.  I think they deservedly should have a winner with this in the entry-level market.  In my case, I am sufficiently enthused to have a nice new blue Emblème currently wending its way to me.  After all, can’t waste a perfectly good Waterman converter!

 

It occurs to me that our acquisitions should be described as “penultimate purchases”, since they are always going to be the last (and best?) but, somehow, never are…
