To me it look a regular Chinese pen, and somebody registered the brand in Germany to give the impression it is a German pen.

Similar toghe situation of cangarou pens, which sounds Australia, but aga9n they are just chinese pens.

That has always been my impression, too. We bought a large number of them a few years ago and most are now sold. The quality was surprisingly good, though they were rather heavy and had boring one-size-fits-all nibs. There were quite a few that had 14k nibs.

As a foreigner in China, Duke seems to be eclipsed by Picasso. Picasso seems to have a more consistent approach between pens and feels more cohesive in their marketing. You get hits for Picasso pens earlier in Taobao and the pictures posted seem to be coming from a marketing department that is more slick. Duke's marketing looks like it was taken by someone getting ready for a garage sale or ebay. Duke seems to be filling the niche for people uninspired by Hero, but too conservative to risk a newer brand like Jinhao, Picasso or N9. When you go to the tourist trap markets in Beijing, the pens you find are the fake Montblancs and Parkers, the Heros, Jinhaos, and banished to the corner will be a few Dukes.

I had one ten years ago, a great heavy thing made out of brass coated with lacquer. It had more to do with plumbing pipework than proper fountain pen manufacture. Just another Chinese pen of the time. Most Chinese pens are better than that now.

Eachan

Actually, the question was not if this is a German pen or not - it is clear that it is at least manufactured in China (like, I was told, Cross pens). My question was "what is their relationship to Germany". Looking at the comments, nobody knows.

It is a strange company, in the name is written German, the HP is located in Poland.

Now regarding the one nib size comment. I actually see 4 different nib(size)s in the picture below. Especially, the #6 nibs are very good.

While different models had different sized nibs, I never found any variation in nib width among the stock of a single model. We had dozens of the 911 "Shark" pens and they all had the same medium-fine nib.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
