Update: Yahoo Japan - Kamakura-Bori

Knocked down today was a pen colloquially known as a kamakura-bori type for a very low price.

The design was popular in the 1930s and 1950s.

 

From photographs looks in decent condition until you look close at the nib and feed. Nib appears bent and feed may have a chip. The chip is not so bad. Feed is ebonite and fragile so this happens sometimes. Nib may require repair so there's at least $100 additional.

 

Photographs make it hard to discern if the pen is an eyedropper filler - difficult to see a joint at the blind cap. Assume it is so seal might need to be replaced. That usually has little impact on price paid.

 

Overall, someone got a good buy.

Dang, I was thinking about bidding on that. Didn't expect it to go that low.

Similar to eBay there is moderately less interest on weekdays. Potential for better prices.
