It says something different: "Erhältlich ausschließlich über den Facheinzelhandel. Kontakte und Informationen über die Händlersuche oder von der Otto Hutt GmbH."

("Available exclusively through specialist retailers. Contacts and information about the dealer search or from Otto Hutt GmbH." machine-translated)

If it is sold out or not, is not clear from that "Nicht vorrätig".

In the case of Otto Hutt, it is my belief that beauty is only skin deep. Yes, that pen is gorgeous, but let's just see if they repair BOTH of my Design 04s, whose clips have broken off and cannot be repaired except by their factory. I cared for them lovingly, but they did not deliver $400 each of value. Once COVID-19 passes, I will send them both back to the factory, but the opinion that Otto Hutt is in the category of "nice to look at but don't use it regularly," remains. This is why I will pretty much only purchase repairable pens, from now on, like Conid or Karas.

That's no fun, sorry to hear @stevesurf :( Thank you for sharing your experience.

This current iteration looks bombproof but if function were amiss that would wreck the whole cool train.

You cannot order Conid at the moment.

Needing something to get repaired is not nice but that also happens to Sailor, Pilot, Namiki, Montblanc pens - or am I wrong.

You said $400*, how much will a repair be? 50 plus shipping - then you are still far away from the price of a Conid?

* I saw Design04 for 110-190 Euro at LaCouronneDuComte - price for non-Europeans. And if you wait for their special sales, that even reduces to 90-150 Euro.

Did you give OttoHutt the chance to assess what is happening?

The design of that does not communicate the admission price or to put it more bluntly, it looks like a fraction of it. They really need to hire better designers...

@stuvesurf

I am wondering that you complain in this thread instead of first discussing your problem with the person who sold you the pens or with OttoHutt directly info@ottohutt.com>.

While I haven't needed to contact them regarding some repair, I found them very responsive regarding questions I had before buying my OttoHutt pens.

I have Design 04, 06 and 07 pens from them.

The description of the filling mechanism is really interesting. It says that when you pull the end it becomes ready to fill, and then twisting the end creates vacuum. How does this work??

It sounds like a lot of flowery language to describe a piston filler with some sort of clutch mechanism to engage it.

It could be very cool or it could just be complexity for complexity's sake.

I do suspect that but the description seems to suggest something different?

'A slow pulling brings the Pull+Twist™ mechanism into the filling position. Turning it clockwise creates a vacuum inside the fountain pen. The designC absorbs ink through it'

As I said, it sounds a bit like the mechanism in a Montblanc 1912 or a Hero 718 where you pull out the knob and then it can operate the piston.

Thanks for the reply; I will try their "info" mailbox once again. Levenger (retail store) was an authorized Otto Hutt retailer and now are out of that business.

So many businesses have been affected by COVID, so I'm not holding my breath, but I'll try again. I apologize for disturbing a new introduction thread. The new design looks gorgeous and I like that they have integrated the cap and body release to also be anti-roll. I would not like it if those parts are plated as they would get the most wear. Also, as I've experienced with their cap springs, I would caution whether they used one durable enough for EDC. Anyway, whoever buys it, use it in the best of health, but do treat it with light use.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
