Jinhaofold Centennial

Engelbrecht

Recommended Posts

Jinhao have just released these. They are acrylic (resin) barrels and come in three shades: orange, white and brown-red. Interesting that its not a metal body. Its being advertised as a Jinhao Duofold Centennial Resin Fountain Pen. Cant imagine where they got the idea from.

Released? Are they available anywhere? How much is the price?

Because looking at this picture it seems like something I'd wanna buy

Jeez, and they've even got a "sort of" white one, with the same nuts in the background. How "impressive", it sports the same nib found on all their $3.00 models.

How depressing.

22 USD on ebay.

Could you provide a link to the offer, because I somehow can't find it.

Try this. There aren't many up there yet, so they may have sold.

I saw an instagram post from Bobby which said he would be getting them in next month.

I like the Moonman M600 better.

How is it quality wise?

If an injection moulded Jinhao (which, I suppose, isn't certain) is the same price as a CNC turned Moonman, I can't see a reason to bother with the former.

I'm glad the style is making a resurgence, though. I live in hope of another Ranga group buy on Ebonite Emperor pens.

This Jinhoa has an appeal but the price is a bit more, nay, lot more, than I'd wish to pay. Basied on the past history of such new offerings from Jinhoa, what are the prospects for a reduction in price over time?

I mean... Jinhao's medium nibs are pretty damn legendarily good.

Can't say I see a reason why this isn't worth $20 apart from stigma.

Selling a boatload of restored, fairly rare, vintage Japanese gold nib pens, click here to see (more added as I finish restoring them)

I seriously like the Moonman better except for the colour options, Jinhao just do this better this time.

Moonman M600S nibs are about the same price as Jinhao nibs and I'd say aren't any better.

If it's really about $20 then I'm very likely going to get one as soon as they are available on ebay.

A single offer for all three colors appeared on ebay.

EDIT: Several new offer appeared.

One of them actually calls it Jinhao Duofold Centennial (others just Jinhao Centennial)... really subtle there.

Well, the price on many vendor's sites is down to $20.98. I suspect further decreases are in the offing. After all, it's a plastice pen made by an injection molding process by a mass producer of pens using nibs for which the cost of machine tools and dies costs have been retieved many time over.

I'd join the group buy for my second Emperor in such case!

I just paid £13.59 for a Terracotta which is about 17.98 USD. I didn’t even bother searching around for other prices as it was from a seller I’ve used before. I started with the Kaigelus before the Moonmans and have grown to like the style. The white version I wasn’t so keen on and the brown looked too much like a Kaigelu. One day I’ll get a Parker.

I have the orange one on the way. I probably won't see it until January.

I have just seen these pens. I would have to fork out the same again for a alternative nib.

If only their OE nib were slightly finer, there'd be no need for a immediate swap.

In a basic Jinhao X450 you accept the OE nib. But now the price is higher they ought to have improved the nib.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
