Rare Vintage Parker Duofold

Hello everyone,

 

I recently acquired a set of Parker Duofold in their original box, one is a senior size fountain pen, the other is a pencil. There are some features really special about this pen.

 

This pen has a broad band, which means it is the de luxe, while it also has a small imprint, which means it was produced after 1923. The interesting fact is all the site I found left no information about a de luxe duofold that comes with a small imprint. What do you think? Is it a mismatch, or is it something we have not yet seen before?

The Duofold book mentions that there was also a "medium" imprint (circa 1923-26) that preceded the small imprint (circa 1924-..). Possibly, your pen has this medium imprint.

 

I think that these production dates should also be regarded as "as close as possible estimations" and that there never was an abrupt change of style. It is repeatedly suggested that Parker continued using old stock even after introducing a new style, so therewill always be a significant overlap in time between 'old style' and 'new style'.

Hello. Very nice. Congratulations! To date more accurately I want remember that the "Big Bro." mechanical pencil was introduced, as a mate for the Duofold oversize, in December 1924.

That is really nice, especially IMO the wider band in the Senior size pen. Can I ask you to post a picture/view of the case closed? Looks like it has an interesting pattern, too

Single letters on Duofold nibs are well known but their meaning is matter of debate since many years. Also the Duofold book does not give a clue. A single "P" imprint is common but a "p-c" imprint sounds peculiar to me. Can you show pictures of the nib imprint?

 

Canadian Parker Duofold nibs are well documented and they normally have "Canada" fully imprinted. So it seems unlikely that "p-c" refers to "Canada Production" or alike. But given the mistery on these imprints, anything is possible.

The concluson is that there is mainly speculation but no knowledge on what the letters exactly mean. But it would be interesting if you can include a picture of your "p-c" nib imprint as a future reference.
