Nice thread. I had a dream the other night that a shop owner showed me two orange Aurora 88s. I wonder what that means ...

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned one of the staple pens.

Sheaffer No Nonsense. It definitely came in orange, with many different nibs. (I believe I have one sitting in a pen jar at home)

The Diplomat Aero, in the Orange with dark grey accents is quite attractive and the only true orange pen in my case. The Lamy bronze Al-Star and the Lamy terra cotta Studio are kissing cousins, but neither are unquestionably orange like the Aero.

guess that when you'll be presented with the choice, you'll either get an orange one, or an orange one... :D

I've yet to see an orange pen I wouldn't rather get in a different color :(

well, that's the thrill of diversity, isn't it?

however in such case my advice is: get it also in the other colour ...

It's called Visconti Opera Summer Yellow...

I have one. It reminds me of a juicy ripe peach.

This is one that got started when Jim Rouse gave me one of his orange barrels, made to fit Legacy pens by someone he worked with. Dan does nice work. I had a really sweet nib, but I had trouble finding a cap that l liked, until I bought this one from Dan Reppert at the Chicago show a couple of years ago. Its a Sheaffer 100th anniversary pen cap. A sterling cap needed a white nib, so I rhodium plated the nib and trim. Nice pen, and I like it because it reminds me of Jim, whom I worked with both in pens and on the PCA board.

Thought of another one.... to my knowledge, only five of these made it out of the Sheaffer Factory. Richard Binder and I each got one when we visited the service center in2008. Three more made it out before the service center closed a month after we were there. Called persimmon orange, they were not sold because of a flaw (which I can't see) in the finish. Richard Binder took the picture.

I don't have pics to share, but I have a few orange pens even though orange is not my favorite color:

  1. Lamy AL-Star Copper Orange (and I'm still hunting for a T-52 of the matching ink, gorrammit!)
  2. Lamy AL-Star Bronze (and I was smart--I got the ink when I got the pen)
  3. TWSBI Eco Transparent Orange (paired with Birmingham Pen Co.'s Albert Einstein Relative Cadmium)

If anyone has a line on that T-52, drop me a line! :) Thank you!

Orange pens, let's see ...

A 3 1/4" lever-filler in burnt orange w/ flat black disc on each end. I've pulled it apart and the sac is intact but I've never tried it, bought it mainly as a curiosity. The nib is stamped with STAINLESS forming a diamond shape and has a flat, smooth feed. Strangely enough, I have a similar 5" lever-filler in black with a white band around each flat end that has the exact same nib and feed; the only difference aside from the size is it has a clip. I did test it and it worked and I used it for a few days, decent, if wet (iirc), writer. Always wondered if they were from same pen company or if the nib/feed were generics, like those Iridium nibs.

Then, there's a Steadtler piston-filler school pen (similar to the Pelikan Go!), orange barrel and cap with black finial and clip and blind cap over the piston knob. I did actually use that one for a while, had Tokiwa-matsu in it. This one had an F and the seller had a couple others in different colors but they were Ms so I passed.

My prize is a NOS Vermilion Sheaffer Cadet (later in the run as section is matching color rather than black). I've not tested it but the plunger feels and sounds very tight, like the O-ring ad least is making a good seal. I mainly bought it as a collectible, both for the color and because it has a SM1 nib, which I wasn't familiar with. I did find one Cadet review where the reviewer also got several additional nibs, including an SM1, and she wasn't sure if it meant soft medium or stub medium. The barrel still has most of the white price stamp on the barrel that says Cade.., (looks like) med..., $3.99.

In order I guess it would be my Flattop Parker Duofold, then my Pelikan burnt orange and then the Lamy orange AlStar.

I thought I had more orange pens but these are all I found: Delta Dolcevita Mini, Parker Duofold International Orange, Parker Duofold Centennial Orange. Perhaps I should get another orange pen... ;)

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
