Skater Japan Pens?

Hello fellow pen enthusiasts!

Some time ago I recovered a couple of pens from an old drawer, two Sheaffer pens, and another small one with the only identifiable markings "Skater Japan". This little pen has an aluminum body and cap, a black plastic section and a semi hooded plated nib. The feed seems to be ebonite.

What intrigues me about this pen is that web searches have been at most mentions of the brand, or ebay ads, but no further information.

The pen seems to have never been used. Inside it has a captive converter similar to Pilot's con30 (vacumatic style? Is it correct?) With transparent sac in pristine condition. After inking it with Parker Quink blue to play safe, I felt it was a little scratchy which is something to be expected for a fine nib. What pleasantly surprised me was the discovery of it being a soft nib, which with a little pressure allows a much more generous flow of ink and some line variation.

I am wondering, given the seemingly scarce information available online, if any of you have had experience with similar pens of this manufacturer, or have more information about the brand.

This pen is not a premium model, but writes nice and feels well made, although very light. I would appreciate any additional information.

Cheers

There is substantial information on Skater in Lambrou/Sunmi FPOJ.

They do seem to be rather difficult to find. After almost twenty years of collecting I've had four or five but, haven't been looking for them. They were not produced in large quantity and most have been lost to time. All that I've seen have been lower cost models of decent quality.

Unless your pen is a total dog, keep it. Fantastic piece of Japanese pen history.

It is good to know there is some information out there, unfortunately it seems a little out of reach for most people (unless someone with access and some spare time would share a scanned sample of said pages wink wink ;) that would be awesome! ).

This particular pen seems to never been used before and had some flow problems, but is fun to write and is getting better with use.

The design is beautiful. I'm only worried about the repairability of the pen since the converter is fixed and there is no apparent/seemingly safe way to replace the sac and I have no idea of the durability of it. I will use it and enjoy it anyway, because not using it would be a shame.

I'll post pictures when I get back home where my camera and computer (and the pen) are

Cheers!
