Im not a Lamy fan. Great pens, but not for me. Never found a Safari that wrote well for me. Never held a more expensive Lamy that ticked my boxes. One exception, though.

I bought a bunch of different steel Lamy nibs some time ago just to find one that might suit me. I assumed the 1.1 would be a stub, but it isnt. Its an italic. One of the most unforgiving nibs Ive ever felt. Deviate from its sweet spot and youre in trouble. But somehow this little pen/nib combination seems to get more and more use, week after week. The wooden ABC feels wonderful in the hand. The nib produces nice, crisp lines that arent too wide and it offers a huge variation between downstrokes and sidestrokes.

 

Intriguing little pen.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning.
