Sheaffer Lady Skripsert Touchdown?

Recommended Posts

Hi al,

The pen below looks like a clipless Sheaffer Lady Skripsert but it has a Touchdown filler instead of cartridge.

Period advertisments suggest that the Lady Skripsert came primarily (only?) as a cartridge pen. Also the wavy line pattern, which from a distance looks as a line of repetitive characters "S", is not shown in the Lady Sheaffer Skripsert reference list at Sheaffertarga.com (www.sheaffertarga.com/Lady%20Sheaffer/lady%20sheaffer%20ref%20list.html).

So maybe it is not a lady Skripsert at all. Nib and cap lip are both marked "Sheaffer's".

Any thoughts and/or identification are welcome.

Hi Joss, This is a Sheaffer Miss Universe, probably made in Brazil. Take a look. Sorry about the photo quality.fpn_1573096870__missuni_1.jpg

The paper says:

WARRANTY CERTIFICATE

For the Brazilian woman, in her honor and idealized to be the true pen female, Sheaffer Pen from Brazil presents Miss Universe. Entirely in gold, with a delicate design, a special shape and an iridium-tipped nib, Miss Universe has all the qualities that guarantee a product. Miss Universe's adventurous manufacturing defects will be repaired for free by Sheaffer Pen from Brasil.

Best regards

Hi Ricardo, that is really great info! I asked the question on different pen fora and did not expect to obtain an answer anymore but you nailed it.

I guess that this model is not documented well because I did not find any additional information on a Sheaffer "Miss Universe" pen that is based on the Sheaffer Lady Skripsert.

It is great to see this pen together with its original box and papers. Thanks again!

Hi Joss, it's a pleasure to share information about these stranger pens.

There was a Sheaffer factory in Brazil that produced many interesting pens. For example, the Brazilian Sheaffer crest looks like a Imperial Triumph, but has gold filled triumph nib.

Here some photos of Brazilian Sheaffer Crest (not mine).

I found another set of the Brazilian Sheaffer "Miss Universe" pens: a fountain pen with accompanying ballpoint in its original box. Both pens and the instructions manual have a barrel imprint that includes the Sheaffer "S" logo that was introduced in 1964. So this set is 1964 or later. The pen that is shown in the first picture of this thread does not have that logo so that pen might be earlier than 1964.

The correct translation of the name of the company is "Sheaffer Pen of Brazil".  Moreover, besides being humorous, "adventurous manufacturing defects" is wrong.  The correct translation is "possible manufacturing defects".
