I was very saddened to hear this. Anthony and I had gotten to know each other a bit, and shared some common life tragedies. I know that I will miss him.

Dear FPN Community,

 

I know Anthony made an impression on people. I knew that just from the years I've spent working for him; so, it wasn't a surprise to me that there was standing room only at his funeral mass, but this outpouring of love and friendship from a "virtual" community is truly amazing. I can understand why Anthony enjoyed the time he spent here as much as he did.

 

I was going to write a detailed post and address some of your comments and questions as well as relate a couple of stories about Anthony, but after reading through all of your responses; I'm finding myself a little overwhelmed.

 

But I will be back. God bless you all.

So sorry for your loss Linda, I know work can be difficult and stressful when significant personnel changes take place particularly at senior level when you're really aligned with somebody. What I will remember from Anthony's posts, is how friendly, kind and respectful they were in addition to his knowledge within the community.

 

Do you mind me asking how old he was?

I can't recall having had any personal interaction with Anthony, but he's been a familiar name to me on FPN for lo these many years. I'm saddened to hear of his passing and I pray for healing for the OP (Linda) and for his family.

 

May God remember His servant Anthony.

I believe the answers to both of those questions are apparent when you look at the information Anthony chose to share in his FPN member profile.

This is such sad news. I will miss Anthony's posts. Even before reading his posts, just seeing his smiling Jersey Boy mug was an alert that pleasantness was forthcoming.

I have been away for a few days and came back to find this news. Totally shocked and saddened. I think this quote from G. K. Chesterton would fit Anthony. He will be missed.

 

"If I can put one touch of rosy sunset into the life of any man or woman, I shall feel that I have worked with God."

I join the rest of you in mourning Anthony’s untimely passing. Whenever I am catching up on long threads, I usually scroll quickly looking for a handful of posters I know will have interesting contributions. Anthony was always one of those I searched for. His posts combined helpful advice, compassion and humor. May he rest in peace.

I'm really shocked on hearing of Anthony's passing. I'm not a very frequent visitor here, but he was one of the contributors whose postings I always wanted to read. Always kind and helpful. One of the few members I knew by name. Some three months ago I posted here about a project I intended to carry out, and I felt honoured when he took the time to write briefly in spite of not having much time, and made some suggestion.

 

As many others before, I thank Linda for being so kind as to let us know about Anthony's passing, and I'd beg her to let his family know how appreciated he was here. The forum won't be such a good place without him. I'll be glad to read anything you may wish to tell us about him.

It seems to me that the number of people who had such warm relationships with him despite political, religious, or automotive differences speaks to who he really was. Perhaps it is part of his legacy that FPN is still the accepting, helpful, and polite place that it remains while much around us has changed.

My condolences to you, Linda, and to his family and friends.

 

Anthony and I often spoke in PM. Even though we were at opposite ends of the religious spectrum, we had a shared ethnic background and I'll miss our conversations. He was always respectful and kind.

I believe he was 50.

Years ago, I had one incident while purchasing a Faber Castel, the shipping company stole my pen. I didn't know how to proceed back then, asked for help on forum, got quite some supportive suggestions from fellows here, and Anthony was one of them. He was very supportive and very kind.

 

I shall miss him.

I first saw this on Monday of this week. It hit me much harder than I expected given the limited amount of direct interaction that Anthony and I had. My condolences to you Linda,his friends and colleagues and last but not least his family.

 

It has taken me a few days to process it all, given other things I have going on this week. I always felt he had a kind,loving wise soul. That if we had known each other in real life we could have/would have been friends. Perhaps very good friends at that. Even though we come from very different backgrounds. Me the Mormon kid that grew up in Utah, he the Catholic Jersey boy. Even though I am several years older. One of my closest friends is nearly 12 years my senior so a guy 10 years younger shouldn't be to much should it?

 

One thing I noticed is that even when he disagreed with someone, he didn't let it fester and get worse.

I just stumbled into this thread, and I am stunned. Anthony was one of my favorite people on this forum; not only for his knowledge about pens but for his easy going style, and his genuine appreciation for the finer things in life. I'm truly sorry to learn that he is gone. Goodbye, ParkerDuofold.

      Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

      It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

      Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

      Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

      @asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
