English name of this chain of stationary shops in Shizuoka prefecture in Japan is "Stationer's Kobayashi".

They sell 10 original inks made by Sailor.

  • 静岡苺 (Shizuoka Strawberry)
  • 藤枝 (Branch of Wisteria)
  • 静岡蜜柑 (Shizuoka Orange)
  • 駿河湾・夏 (Blue of Suruga Bay Summer)
  • 静岡茶 (Shizuoka Green Tea)
  • 翡翠 (Kawasemi)
  • 羽衣 (Hagoromo)
  • 草薙 (Kusanagi)
  • 音止 (Otodome)
  • 桜御前 (Sakuragozen)

Unfortunately, they only sell these inks at their shops or at exhibitions where they participate.

The purple one (Branch of Wisteria) looks quite nice, from the the first link that mke posted. and the green one (Green Tea) also looks interesting.  But a lot of the others seem sort of muted/pale.  Is that the case?  Anyone know?

I haven't seen these ink in person but I wouldn't be suprised with Japanese ink being muted/pale.

True, but I have plenty that aren't: some of the Pilot Iroshizuku inks come to mind (even Tsuyu-kusa isn't what I'd call "pale"), and I have samples of a couple of the Sailor Studio inks as well (#650 and #943).

I've been so unbelievably underwhelmed by the performance of these inks, when you hold the frankly obscene price against the fact that sailor is still putting them in their "strong contestant for worst ink bottle ever made" bottles that are the same boring, ugly, difficult to use junk as they put their basic inks (which are still a bit overpriced but at least perform well)

I'm so over the bungubox hype. Sailor as a brand has been taking advantage of its customers more and more over the years, while pilot (who already had one of the best bottles and well loved inks in the iroshizuku line) managed to keep the sweet bottle AND knock 30% off the price.

Selling a boatload of restored, fairly rare, vintage Japanese gold nib pens, click here to see (more added as I finish restoring them)
