Jacques Herbin Orange Soleil

(okay orange)

Here is Orange Soleil, a "sun orange", from Jacques Herbin, a high-end offshoot of J. Herbin. It costs 19 euros for a 50ml bottle. I was kindly shared a sample by a friend.

Orange Soleil is a decent bright orange with good flow and okay lubrication. It's quite close to Kin-mokusei (Sailor) but slightly darker with more orange and less yellow.

This is a lovely orange, with the disadvantage of competing in a field of many lovely oranges. Your script in reviews is beautiful, especially the heading. What pen and nib are you using?

Thank you Bob! It's a soft medium Pilot Elabo/Falcon. (I flexed too much and too hard and there are cracks around the breath hole now.)

Oh no! Well, cracks or no, you deploy the tool so artfully. Thank you for the review.

A very happy, sunny color indeed!

Thank you, great review, nice looking ink.

I don't have my bottle of Orange Indien with me but it's a much paler, less saturated orange. It looks quite brown and dirty to me. It's one of the oranges I hate.

I have a bottle of Orange Indien, but haven’t tried it yet. I like the look on your swabcard though. And since we often have opposite tastes, an ink you hate could well be an ink I love :-)

I will give Orange Indien a try in the coming weeks.

I suspect you'll love it :D Can't wait to see your review!

Nice review - do you happen to know how it compares to Orange Indien?

Looks closer to Edelstein Mandarin.

Thank you for another nice review. Sailor Kin-Mokusei is one of my favorite oranges, guess have to give this one a try too.

Thanks for the review. This looks to have some reasonable shading to it. But it's still, well, orange. So my wallet thanks you as well.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Thank you for sharing! These are the kinds of oranges I really like and I appreciate the swabs for comparisons!

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Wow, that is a great orange, vibrant, almost electric. I'm kind of with Ruth, though, it's still orange so, like reds, only fun for a couple days then interest quickly flags. (That said, I'm still gonna give GvFC Burned Orange a go.) ;)

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
