Sorry. Just saw this come up now (I had logged out, only to log back in because I'd forgotten to unfollow another thread).

Well, I won't do my favorite song. That's just TOO special (I hate covers of it with a passion, as well -- some songs do great with other interpretations, but that one (a lot of Bob Dylan comes to mind). But that one? No. Not really. That one I just cringe and twitch and fight the urge to strangle the person with my bare hands....

My second favorite song has something like 7 or 8 verses (it's over 10 minutes long -- and it took me three years of repeated searching to find the lyrics posted online, and I'm not 100% sure they're correct even now...). Another song (by one of the guitarists on that song in a subsequent band, I had to painstakingly transcribe, line by line, from the YouTube video. Then when I tried to post it to one of those lyrics sites, I got this email back saying it would be up in a couple of weeks if they "deemed it popular enough".... Grrrr. If the damned song was POPULAR I wouldn't have wasted 3 days searching for it and then a couple of hours transcribing it myself, hitting the pause button after every line, now would I?

I will try to post some stuff at some point, but I've got a ton of stuff to get down this week (including something a little more important -- photographing and posting pix of some of my recent pen acquisitions. I do have a file on my laptop (with a whole bunch of sub-files in it) of various songs that I run across, remember from my (somewhat) misspent youth, or that just catches my attention.

No, my favorite song isn't *there* either. Because I've had it memorized since I was about 13 -- having first heard it when I was 12 (don't ask me my age now, it isn't polite). And, well, because liner notes . Something sorely lacking on the album my second favorite song is on (but given it was a severe case of "failure to do due diligence" to begin with, I suppose I shouldn't be all that surprised... ).

Ironically, back when I was in high school, I used to keep track of various song lyrics on paper. Didn't use fountain pens then, but I did play around with calligraphy and typography some.
