Hi Folks!

The Parker Duofold Centennial China 60th Anniversary was a 2009 Limited Edition made for the Chinese market to commemorate the establishment of the People’s Republic of China in 1949. The cap and barrel material is the Classic Pens diffusion bonded Flame Red and is shown with one of the rods from which they are turned. The production pen has gold filled trim, including three cap bands. The special cap top emblem reads “China 1949-2009” with an image of the sun and a palace. The retail price was $1,600 each for the edition of 800 pens.

The Parker Duofold hadn't even been on my radar until I picked one up recently. Only two pens (so far), a basic black and anniversary edition in marbled blue. These are pretty much daily carries.

These pens are a perfect fit for me, both in size and writing. I wonder what took me so long?

The posts and pics have me wondering at my next acquisition. Thanks for that (eye roll).

Excellent choices! Enjoy! The Duofold is both a workhorse and a work of art. If youre thinking of further Duofolds, the possibilities are vast and I wish you enjoyment of the quest.

I already posted this picture in a different thread, but here goes again: this is my collection of Duofold Centennials (except for the green one at the right, which is an International).  From left to right: Marbled Maroon Mk I, Black GT Mk II, Black GT Mk III, Big Red CT Classic, Jade Green Mk II (International).

This is one of the latest Lapis Lazuli with the ace of spades nib, not as beautiful as the first released model which was marbled, but nice nonetheless.

I really wanted that Lapis Blue Mk III as the Mk III is the only version with cap, barrel and section all the same color. However, the only reasonably priced Mk III that I could get was the Black GT whose section is black just like the other Mk I, Mk II, and Classic versions!

Those lapis lazuli Duofold are gorgeous, and the color really reminds of laspisalzuli. I agree that also the first, marbled version, is a stunning pen, and for long time I searched for one to add to my meager collection of Duofolds.

I confess that, together with the black Duofolds, of any generation, which I really like, my other preferred are the yellow and the blue, not necessarily in this order.

Congratulations for your "Bella penna di lapislazzuli", like the color of the Virgin's cloak in Italian renaissance painting.

Thank you both, at the time I was undecided on the colour to choose, between the blue, black and orange (did not have the older orange version yet). The white/cream colour was the only one I was reluctant to get as I'm always afraid white pens get stained...

The black was nice too, but I did have a first version in black (which is really a favourite) and probably regarding the orange version I really did want the earlier version with the black section. This blue one looked very attractive and for a short while there were good offers available.

This is my black one

That black Mk I looks great!  I have black GT Mk II and Mk III but my Mk I is the Marbled Maroon color.

The early modern duofolds have a good weight to them, whereas the Mk2/3 models tend to feel (disappointingly) lighter. My green marble Mk1 international (M) is a wonderful writer.

My modern Duofolds, including all three sizes, in order of accquisition (I have artificially lightened the photo; the background is now lousy, but I think the pens look more like in person). There hasn't been any particular rhyme or reason for these particular ones, just pens that I liked. I'm still looking for the earlier marbled lapis, jasper red, jade green, black and pearl, check citrine, and maybe the silver godron, all depending on what prices I can find them for.

From the left

Current era Big Red Centennial, can't find a date code;

MkII Check Amber Centennial (my favorite material so far), 2006 1st quarter

MkII Check Olivine Demi, also 2006 1st quarter

MkII Black Mosaic International, 2002 2nd quarter

MkII Check Marine Centennial, again 2006 1st quarter

Gold Godron Centennial, 1991 3rd quarter (arrived 2 days ago)

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
