Flex Nib For Leonardo Momento Zero

What do folks think the chances are of getting a FPR 14K gold flex nib to fit a Leonardo Momento Zero fountain pen - has anyone tried?

Leonardo takes a standard Bock #6. FPNibs flex/semi-flex is a standard #6 Jowo. No, I have not tried.

I have put Jowo nibs into a Bock housing/feed without issue.

Provides a quite reasonable level of flex by all accounts and is easily modifyable to provide more.

 

If I can get one to fit the Leonardo, it will be a good staring point - and I can modify from there.

 

Extreme flex is not the aim however, it's the ability to increase flex until I find the expression I want in the pen.

Interesting idea. There is a post floating around from a year ago when these came out the the FPR gold flex nibs are not particularly snappy, so a bit blobby, not a wonderful gold flex. Not sure if anything has changed since then.

 

Also, you would want the ebonite feed to go with it else it would be ink-starved with a plastic feed. I have a #6 FPR steel flex with plastic feed on the Treveni Jr... it lays down a nice fine line, but railroads with any flex.

I haven't tried a #6 14K flex nib from FP Revolution yet - but if it's the same shape as their steel nibs, you may have trouble fitting it into a Leonardo pen. The base (back end) of the nib is more 'squared off' (less of a taper) compared with a JoWo or Bock nib - I haven't been able to use them in my Jinhaos or other pens I've tried. I *think* I've read reports from others who *have* managed to ram a FPR nib into a different pen - but usually they've had to remove some of the material to get there.

 

FPR's #5.5 nibs are a different story - they're much closer in shape to their JoWo or Bock counterparts - but obviously they won't fit a pen designed for a #6 nib!

The guys at FPR say their Steel nibs are a tough fit into anything that accepts a #6 Bock, but that the 14k nib has a thinner section. That being said, they haven't tried one for size and in any case, their ebonite feed definitely wouldn't fit into the space.

A vintage nib is an attractive option, but I have no idea what would fit something that normally accepts a #6 Bock module. Even if I did, it's very doubtful I could source whatever it turned out to be locally. That said, identifying what fits would be a start and would allow me to scour the online ads for a prospective purchase. Input anyone?

I think I can hear FPNibs calling you. Pablo can make you a very nice 14k #6 traditional semi-flex.

That nib does not fit a lot of different #6 housings.

 

I've also seen pretty bad reviews of that 14k nib.

 

If you have the $150-300, pablo at fpnibs can make you a lovely semiflex 14k nib all the way through a ludicrous wet noodle.
