Different Engravings On Pelikan 100N Cap

Good morning from Lithuania,

I always was curious how many different versions on cap top Pelikan 100 N has..and how their were modified during the years. Most information I found on great werner ruttinger site. Collecting my pels, I try to get the caps with different imprints, colors. And this was funny. :) I almost sure that in these photos not all versions and if you found missing one, please update.

So, from the left:

- WW II period black 100N with most common "Pelikan Patent Pelikan Patent", around the cap.

- Export version black pen 100N with "Germany Pelican Gunther Wagner" around the cap.

- Grey 100 N with white "Pelikan Pelikan Pelikan" around the cap.

- Gdansk version green 100N with "Pelikan D.R.P Pelikan D.R.P"

- Pre war version black 100 N with "Pelikan GERMANY D.R.P Pelikan GERMANY D.R.P" around the cap.

- latest period green-blue 100N with small imprint "Gunther Wagner Germany Pelikan 100N" around the cap.

I only have one, a near mint Somegi. Like your right cap mine has no imprint, much less in 'colors'.

Very nice pictures  , and I didn't know there were so many 'versions' of them.

A 100 or 100N is not in the budget for me, sadly.

But I did contact Pelikan a few years ago to try and narrow down the date range for a couple of more modern pens (1990s era M400 and M200) and was told that they tend to change stuff like the logo (as to number of chicks, etc.) and trim (such as number of cap rings) about every seven years.

You can find post war 100N for quite reasonable prices from ebay.de, sometimes in decent shape for as low as a tad below 100€, you just might need to hunt for one for a while though (I know because I hunt for bargains) ;). Of course shipping etc. on top of that but... not that bad considering what you get especially with post war 100N, usually good to go with a light clean up.

100 & pre war 100N are a trickier bunch and thus I tend to stay away from them (unless found very, very cheap and in good shape).

Thank you,mana.

I guess that "Pelikan Gunther Wagner" is missing .. but very common in your flock.

Thanks a lot.

"PELIKAN PATENT GERMANIA" is a correct imprint for an Italian made (Milano production) Pelikan 100N.

And in the 'Pelican' imprint series there is also "PELICAN GERMANY D.R.P."

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
