Hello-

Does anyone know the meaning/origin of this 5 digit number imprinted on the section of a Mark II Parker 61? I suppose it could be a date....

Aside from the number, this is a pretty ordinary Parker 61.

Any ideas or hunches would be most appreciated!

It is possibly related to the numbers that are sometimes found on sections of Parker 75 pens. The 'serial' number was an attempt to fight the problem of fake Parker pens that were sold at that time (1960s?) in Italy:

This is a picture of the 'serial' number that I found on a Parker 75 section. I must admit that the overall appearance of the number is quite different from what you show on your Parker 61:

Thanks! I've never seen one of these imprints on a Parker 75 before. It wasn't a casual imprint on either pen, since they filled it in with gold paint.

They used to do it with P45s as well:-

And I've got a P51 aero that came from Italy which has a similar number stamped in the sac protector.

Often found on pens sold in Italy. I don’t have the details with me bu there would be a certificate of authenticity with the serial number in the original box.
