Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I am interested in getting a Eboya Large pen, but cannot decide between the Bock Large 14K F or MF nib.

Does anyone knows how does the Bock Large 14K F or MF compares to say Pilot #15 F nib?

Thanks in advance!

Rgds,

> Bock Large 14K F or MF nib

What is a Bock Large nib? Never heard that before.

Eboya uses usually Bock #6 nibs where you can find dimensions on the Bock website. On special request, they use a Bock #8. Dimensions see website (this one is much bigger than a Pilot #15).

If you were asking about the line size written by a Bock F, it is much broader than a Pilot F.

Are you sure with a Bock MF? When I checked last year, they only had F and M, because a Bock #6MF doesn't exist, AFAIK.

Im sorry but I do not have a Pilot F nib to compare line widths with, but I do have a Bock B nib from my Dani to compare with the Bock MF nib at the top. Ive thrown in a Sailor EF for size and line width comparison.

Addendum: Id suggest visiting their Japanese language site eboya.net as theres just so much more information on there - including writing samples on different nibs versus the non-Japanese website. Google translate if you cant read Japanese.

All the best.

That is strange, the Bock HP doesn't show a MF nib: https://www.peter-bock.com/products/nib-systems

Last year in March at the Mitsukoshi penfair, Eboya only had M and F (at least in their test tray of pens). I remember it because I thought it would be great to have nib size between M and F.

But Eboya's HP has MF everywhere - perhaps special orders??

The Bock F is between a Sailor MF and Sailor M, Bock M is near to Sailor B.

I suspect the MF and in fact the 14K graded Bocks are specially made for Eboya.

On their Japanese HP - in the "About the nib" section, they've claimed that the "multi-purpose, suitable for all types of writing" MF width is their "most popular". I suspect that the MF grade nib is a recent addition to their line up and still fine enough to write legibly on a sheet of Genkoyoshi - so I can understand why it's their best selling nib grade. But one would also need to take Japanese styled advertising with a huge grain of salt.

I don't have an Eboya but I do have some Bock nibs. Below photos are Bock titanium type 250 (#6) and type 380 (#8) showing nib size and line width. Pilot #15 should be similar to Bock type 250 (#6). The Bock type 380 came with my Conid Kingsize, they provided a nice writing sample showing the line width. I hope this helps.

The first three pictures are borrowed from the internet, the last picture is made by me.

As I didn't find a Bock-Pilot nib comparison, I did a visual Jowo #6 - Pilot #15 comparison. Bock #6 and Jowo #6 are about the same size. You can see that the Pilot #15 is not really big.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
