I think that the shape of the tip of these pens depends very much on the use done by the previous users.

Every time I find a ‘50-‘60 pen, I also find that the tip has some worn due to an heavy use. On newer pens this does not happen.

Few more recent findings:

Pelikan 100N OF from around 1950, in pretty much mint condition.

IMG_3442_SnapseedCopy.thumb.jpeg.a12e52f0b0c551aa7c5d496459a824fa.jpegIMG_3432_SnapseedCopy.thumb.jpeg.8effcf1e51f4037e23a8b1c86005128a.jpeg

Pelikan 400 F & 400NN EF Black-Striped, not in the best condition, for example, both caps have hairline cracks near the trim ring. Good enough for user grade as they are otherwise fully functional… the F-nib needs a bit of work, the tines are not set flush/even leading to scratchiness.

Fun detail on the underside of the 400NN clip :)

A strange, transitional 400

I found this pen, which, going by the book, shouldn’t have existed at all. It should have had nib grind designation imprint either on the nib itself (after April 1952), or on the turning knob (before April 1952). This one has both ( F ).

…and it is one of those nibs, soft and flexible, to immediately fall in love with. All other parts of the pen are by the book. Therefore this pen can likely be dated ‘round April 1952, while both imprint protocols may have coexisted, I presume…

Actually, what I should have said to you in reply to that ↑ question is:

"No! And, to make up for your faux pas, you should now post that pen to me." ;)

@InkyProf I just read what you said to my husband and he groaned and said, "Oh, that's bad...." (he's often reading me bad jokes he sees on FB).

@Mercian :lticaptd: (re: your reply to laramax).

If this goes to me, it is my personal problem, that I don’t have affinity for modern Pelikans unfortunately, mostly because I can’t accomodate my writing style and requirements to their nib grinds, which do determine the writing techinque.

So, I can only post what I get and like, if I may, and last, but not least:

Now <that> is a great nib, stoen!

Thanks, I often wonder, what prevents Pelikan from offering some of such nibs in modern pens as well.

Not at all! It was only genuine "unease", as I've not seen any modern Pelikans *ahem* posted in the thread, that's it :)

Come on, lamarax: where are you?  You must be on the point of posting here -- you've already posted your new arrival in another thread!  😃

Sorry, I've missed your post

Well, I haven't got any new pen since the M809, which one do you mean?

@lamarax: I could swear that I saw an announcement by you of a recent purchase or arrival of a new Pelikan (big one) in another forum?  I had therefore assumed you'd be announcing it here, in the Pelikan forum, as well?  I must be losing my marbles...

Apologies if I miss-represented you, lamarax!  🙁

Hey, now you have an excuse to get another. After all, one does not want to disappoint a fellow FPNer… just saying… 😂

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
