I think that the shape of the tip of these pens depends very much on the use done by the previous users.

Every time I find a ‘50-‘60 pen, I also find that the tip has some worn due to an heavy use. On newer pens this does not happen.

Few more recent findings:

Pelikan 100N OF from around 1950, in pretty much mint condition.

 

 

Pelikan 400 F & 400NN EF Black-Striped, not in the best condition, for example, both caps have hairline cracks near the trim ring. Good enough for user grade as they are otherwise fully functional… the F-nib needs a bit of work, the tines are not set flush/even leading to scratchiness.

A strange, transitional 400 —

I found this pen, which, going by the book, shouldn’t have existed at all. It should have had nib grind designation imprint either on the nib itself (after April 1952), or on the turning knob (before April 1952). This one has both ( F ).   

…and it is one of those F nibs, soft and flexible, to immediately fall in love with. All other parts of the pen are by the book. Therefore this pen can likely be dated ‘round April 1952, while both imprint protocols may have coexisted, I presume…

If this goes to me, it is my personal problem, that I don’t have affinity for modern Pelikans unfortunately, mostly because I can’t accomodate my writing style and requirements to their nib grinds, which do determine the writing techinque.

So, I can only post what I get and like, if I may, and last, but not least:

Thanks, I often wonder, what prevents Pelikan from offering some of such nibs in modern pens as well.
