Diamine (Guitar Inks) Tobacco Sunburst

Diamine has recently released a Germany-exclusive collection of "guitar inks". I know nothing about guitar so I can't say why these colours.

Tobacco Sunburst is one of those "golden" brown colours that I like. Tobacco Sunburst is a decent but frankly just mediocre ink: rather nice colour but nothing special, medium flow, and very little lubrication (it's like writing with a blade). There's no need to go through the trouble of hunting down a bottle if you're far away from Germany/Europe. Get one of those KWZI golden brown inks with much smoother writing experience instead.

I don't know why they have a whole selection of guitar colours, either. Maybe it has something to do with "The guitar color of the year". Of all things "Tobacco Sunburst" being the color of the year 2013. But I love your reviews, especially your stunning collection of comparisons!

Thanks for the review. That's just the sort of brown that's right up my alley. Too bad it's a German exclusive -- I can't believe that Diamine didn't think it would be marketable elsewhere (like here in the US).

I worked in Music Retail for a period and the thing I loved most was the lacquers applied to guitars.

Phenomenal work up close.

Tobacco Sunburst is mostly seen on older Gibson Les Pauls (Think Slash / Joe Perry etc)

I'd love to see a candy apple red shimmer or a Sonic Blue

Thanks for the review! Your handwriting and 'artsy-artsy' pieces are always a pleasure to see.

I have a bottle of Tobacco Sunburst, and I was going to fill my Pilot Custom Kaede with it, but the colour just didn't match well (yes, I'm a compulsive matcher of inks to barrels!), so I'm now waiting for my Platinum #3776 light briar to arrive.

The colour reminds me a bit of Robert Oster Marrone Mustard (what little I've seen of it). I'll have to compare those two soon.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

Thank you for the great review and all the time it took you to prepare it! I am not at all enamored with the color, though.

daddy like.

I'm pretty much out of space for inks though. over 200 bottles has me out of shelf space. I need to use 10-20 bottles before I buy anything that isn't a special edition.

Selling a boatload of restored, fairly rare, vintage Japanese gold nib pens, click here to see (more added as I finish restoring them)

Ahh, c'mon... all you need is one or two of these:

My 200+ bottles of ink all fit inside the shelving (behind the swing door, and not including either of the drawers) in an Ikea Micke desk!

"Use 10-20 bottles"?!

As if.

Good luck with that approach.

Sell some or give them away.

I checked just now on the web sites of Cult Pens, Bureau Direct and Pure Pens, and I can't see any of the Diamine Guitar collection inks.

Have you contacted Diamine directly?

No, Nick, I haven't. I'd be happy to send Cult Pens or Bureau Direct a note, though, and see if either of them can get it, since they're the ones from whom I buy Diamine inks, and they normally carry Diamine inks as a dealer.

Diamine also sell directly to the public via http://diamineinks.co.uk - but they don't seem to have these inks listed there yet either.
