3 Oysters Doldam

lgsoltek

Recommended Posts

I loaded some of Lgsoltek's kind sample into my Visconti Homo Sapiens last night - pesky pen too fat to fit in the vial so I had to unscrew the nib and carefully syringe some into the body whilst operating the vacuum plunger. No mess. All good.

Oh my  I've written a letter with it and am planning a sketch to Lgsoltek by way of thank you. The VHS loves this ink. It brings out its shading, it doesn't gush and it produces a dark enough line to read easily - a problem I've found with many greys.

Oh I was all excited to order a bottle, but then followed the posts to some surprising revelations about the batch inconsistency. I wonder where I can get the ink as shown by Lgsoltek... The yellow-gray with blue outlining is very appealing to me and reminds me of my beloved grayed-brown Papier Plume Pecan that has green outlining.

Me too I plan to get a full bottle but now I need to find out 1) which is the easiest way to get it in Europe and 2) whether it is the same ink/sample I reviewed.

does anyone have the 3 Oysters Giwa roofing tile gray in comparison to this gray? From the color swabs, the OP's color sample looks more like Giwa than Doldam.

I've sent a question to the vendor I've found to show the same sample colors as in your review. If they confirm that their batch is more yellow-gray, I'll get a bottle from them and will post here. Most others show the lavender-gray on their samples.

I also wonder about concentration. Whether if you do a light wash, it looks lavender gray, and if you have higher concentration of it (say dehydrated a bit, or piled on a lot), then the yellow comes through, hence the possible difference in appearance. For example, your was from a sample which may have dried out a bit to result in higher dye concentration.

Tas,

When you compose that sketch for Lgsoltek, we hope you scan a copy into this discussion!

Absolutely. The sketch is nothing special, just a small thank you. I'll wait until Lgsoltek has received it and then I'll post it here. Wouldn't want to spoil the surprise. xx

got the inks in. this batch is from Jetpens.

The swab looks much bluer, but see those yellow parts, still quite similar to what I experienced. Strangely the writing sample looks quite correct to me, and the Giwa writing sample looks closer to the swab of Doldam?

Giwa is really bronze.

Doldham is not bronze.

Yes but closer to that than the blue I reckon.

I've managed to persuade a friend to buy a bottle from the US by simply sending her a small sketch drawn with it. Will report back when I hear.

NB Only the fluffy parts of the buds were drawn in Doldham. The remainder is a 1 part KWZ Hunter Green / 1 part Noodler's Kiowa Pecan mix.

The Giwa had a more blueish grey when writing

The Doldam has hints of that bronze that you have, but my batch is much less prominent.

Well I guess we'll wait till Tas gets his bottle, then he can compare it with my sample that I gave him.

I've not ordered one. A friend has. Highly impulsive. Before I could properly warn her of the possible confusion, she'd ordered the ink . . . we've canall sympathise right?
