The sketch arrived. Here it is as promised.

 

I adore the golden residual line left behind after the original grey is washed away. Totally unique in my experience :wub:

(Buds are surprisingly Monaco Red. I wet the page, then dabbed some onto the area from a brush loaded with some picked up from the top of a Preppy nib)

Oh, you’re kidding me. Tas, you ink a lovely drawing. That’s beautiful. It looks like a French artist visiting China. Or a Chinese artist visiting France. It’s hard to decide which.

Beautiful!! The color is very interesting! So it looks it is maybe more for artistic use then for writing.

 

BTW Van Gogh was Dutch...

Great review.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I think the brown gray is actually the anomaly. Goulet has updated their page to show the more purple-blue hue now.

 

I'm using mustard and purple gray as 2 of my 4 inks this quarter. Mustard is just superb. Wet, consistent, crazy shading, super legible. Purple gray is EXTREMELY dry. it might be drier than 4001.

I'd say kiri-same should scratch that itch, it's one of the warmest greys I know of (maybe faber castell grey but It's hard to find and expensive)

I bought a bottle of this today, and the colour is exactly as in Lgsoltek's original review!

 

Gold-grey with glints of blue. Mesmerising.

 

I got a blue-grey Doldam too. Perfectly fine ink. Just not my colour. Lucky it's just a sample.

 

In May I actually bought a sample online (from a reliable seller on Ebay), and received the cool-grey "version", which many others have reported experiencing. But at Cityluxe (Singapore) this afternoon, I tested their Doldam and saw that it was the warm grey one!

 

So I don't know... is it inconsistency? labelling error??

 

In any case, I'm so glad this ink is around in the form that Lgsoltek reviewed. It is closest not to Kiri-same, but to GvFC Stone Grey. Except with a brighter sun shining on the stone wall, and melting the last bits of snow.

Hmmm. I somehow acquired a sample of this ink. And mine is a medium grey. Nice enough, but definitely not what the early reviews showed, and not the more recent description of "blue-grey" either.

I got a sample from Honeybadgers, and while I would agree I see most of what he mentions in the ink, my experience is a little different. I find the color borders on purple. I guess it would also depend on your light... For me, this is an ink that sort of creeps up on me. First I thought, wow, what flow! and it kept up very well with the flex nibs I got. Then I thought, but I don't care too much for this color - or do I? I kept coming back to it. Now that half of it is gone, I'm contemplating getting a bottle... so far, only contemplating though, there are too many other great inks that see too little use. But I'm glad to know where to find it.

      Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

      It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

      Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

      Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

      @asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
