Usage Off Beeswax And Paraffine In A Certain Type Off Piston Filler

Ls,

Most off the piston filling systems I have have an “anti-rotate mechanism” that prevents the piston head for spinning round.

It can be a sleeve or something like that that prevents the piston head from rotating around its axis when you use the piston knob (for instance a groove in the piston shaft that corresponds to a ridge in the filler collar (I don’t know all the correct names an there are many subtle differences between these systems: hope you understand).

But I also have pistons filling systems (vintage) that work quite different in such a way that there is nothing mechanical that prevents the piston head from rotating.

In this case the piston head just goes up or down because the friction between the cork and the barrel is more than the friction of the shaft/spindle mechanism (I hope you understand what I mean).

A mixture of beeswax and paraffin oil is generally advised (au bain-marie) before re-entering the cork in the barrel (with some sillicone grease).

However, in the system I described above this could cause a loss of friction, so the cork could start rotating/spinning instead of going up or down.

Soo is for these systems an “au bain marie” with beeswax and paraffin still recommended?

greetings
