Lamy Imporium Lovers

Just wanted to open this space for those who adore their Lamy Imporiums. I got it a couple of days ago and couldn't part from it. It has become my favorite pen - I love it even more than my Black Amber!

 

So, if you love this pen like me, feel free to express your admiration here, especially on how you guys think it's distinctive from other Lamy models.

 

Btw, the new one in Lx Rose is coming out later this year. I'm drooling over it already. Imagine a white Imporium with Rose Gold trim and nib! I attach a picture for reference.

Nice pen, really top of the line. Just one fault: The cap threads sometimes cause the cap to come on skewed.

I always follow the trick Stephen Brown gave on his review video. Put the cap on, initially turn as if to open, then turn to close - it aligns the cap.

Haven't looked too closely at them yet, didn't think they were as iconic as Safari/AlStar... don't really *need* more pens, however smooth they might write.

 

Still eyeing a 2000 though

Thank you for the detailed review and pics. It is a lovely pen although I prefer the palladium.

 

I am doubtful if a M800 buyer would consider the Imporium, which is the segment Lamy is targeting.

Well, I have both and am very happy to use both, so it must have been considered at some point.

 

Coincidentally, I inked my Imporium just a couple of hours before reading this. It had been on my mind that it was a while since I used it, and the experience is as I remembered it, excellent in all but one respect: my own gripe is that the threading is unduly long in the number of turns.

Glad you are pleased with both but IMO, you are in the minority as am I.

 

I prefer screw caps and enjoy the heft of the Imporium. The threading does not bother me, but a tweak wouldn't go amiss.

Can anyone say how the writing experience compares with a Persona?

IMO, the Ti-Pt is better than the black. It is a lovely pen to add to the collection but not at full retail.

The weight and feel is similar to the Dialog 3, if posted.

 

I don't have a Persona to comment.

Pelikan fans tend to be rather loyal so I'd agree, I'm more thinking of people looking to spend £3-400+ on a pen in that segment.

A position unlikely to change and a bit of a shame IMO.

OTOH, all brands can't be all things to everybody and Lamy does have it's share of loyal supporters.

Corporate gifting often looks to something different if still considered to present the 'right' image. Lamy will not expect quick penetration, more a plan for five or ten years. I would look at advertising in glossies for cars, fashion, watches. If Lamy is mentioning itself in there then they may enter the market because the pen is good enough. If not, they are probably wasting their time.
