Ink Rambling - Sailor Sou-Boku

I found this was a tough ink to replicate its colour accurately on screen. Sometimes, in the real world, it has a subtle greenish tinge, yet at other times pure blue black. The swatch, for me, best shows its true colour.

Fabulous, Tas, as always. I especially like the desert isle. Hope this ink is available to you at reasonable prices soon, if not already, (and for a long time to come). I haven't ordered my sample yet, but it's on the wishlist.

I don't have a scanned swatch of Gris De Payne (I'm sure I have one somewhere). Gris De Payne is much much lighter. Prussian Blue is a little lighter too with hardly any shading . . .

I love Prussian Blue. However, like a Gremlin, don't let it near water . . . vamoosh.

So glad you're enjoying the ink . I've had at least one pen loaded with Souboku ever since I first tried it, and I've loved its performance and appearance in every nib thus far. I'm continuously impressed by its water resistance--better than both of Sailor's other two pigmented inks. Good to know that if that precarious pile of papers on your desert island decides to topple over, the writing will still be legible!

Tas - I’m pretty sure Write Here currently has stocks of Sou-boku bottles. The Writing Desk is a little cheaper but they are out of stock at the mo. You could always contact Anna and ask them to bring a bottle to the London Pen Show, if they have some by then. I’m sure they’re attending this year :-)

I got mine from Vanness. I believe Anderson also carries it.
