As a huge fan of J. Herbin inks, I was thrilled to learn about five new standard inks introduced in 2018. Additionally, there's new 1798 ink called Cornaline d'Egypte.



It comes in an elegant glass bottle that contains 50 ml of the writing fluid.

The ocher tint of Carnelian of Egypt, inspired by gemstones, is nice. i like this kind of muted oranges. It brings warmth to the writing. Because the ink contains glittering particles it should be approached as a high-mainenance ink. Sounds scary, but if you won't leave a pen filled with it in a drawer for a year I wouldn't expect any trouble.

Great review, as always. Got my bottle yesterday. Such a nice, calm orange. With a little fancy sparkle.

But the sky will always come to me.™

Great review... beautiful orange... intriguing name...

I quite like this orange, but was a bit hesitant because of the silver particles (Im not a fan of sparkling inks). But in your writing samples, these are practically invisible ... which is good. Have to compare this one with my other oranges to see whether its worth getting it... for now on the MAYBE list.

 

With your 1.1 stub it looks great. Can you give an idea if it also works with e.g. an F or M nib ? Still saturated enough to be readable ?

Its intensity calls to mind Apache Sunset and/or Sazerac. Got any of those on hand?

Great review, looks a really nice ink; looks close to Orange Indien, which I have and enjoy.

I got my wish last year with the sparkly purple from J Herbin. I'm not a huge fan of orange as it is, and this one is the kind of orange I'm less inclined to buy. I'll get this one, because I've gotten all of them so far, but it will wait.

I love glitter and I'm excited about this ink. It reminds me of the Diamine Terracotta.

Thank you for this great review.

 

I like J.Herbin's inks too so I bought this ink and I'm not disappointed. The colour is muted without being boring and it suits your handwriting really well.

Thank you for another great review. The colors looks like a nice rich, saturated orange, the sparkles add to the charisma, but for now the price is a bit daunting for me.

But if it's lubricating like Rouge Hematite, some day I'll put a bottle in my cart for sure. : )

Seeing the drifts of glitter piling up in the ink window of a nice pen was daunting. Love the color, but I’m reserving it for a c/c filler with a still extant service department.

My immediate thought when I first saw this: orange inks have a tendency to crust up if left in a pen for a month or longer. Would this one? And how would the particles affect it?

Ive decided that shimmer inks must go in demonstrators because that will make it easier for me to see if they are truly clean.

 

I have a pen flush product, and found my sonic cleaner. Glad for that. I was amazed at how much Nitrogen Blue was left in a nib and feed after I spent the time to clean it. Finally got clear water.

 

The good thing about using demonstrators is Pilot Plumix pens with calligraphy nibs are super reasonably priced, and show off the sparkle. The section is clear, so easy to see.

 

Edit here, oh yeah the ink. I got Cornaline de Egypte for my birthday, and like it. I think I like the Amethyste a bit better, but Im liking the 1798 J Herbin inks.

      Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

      It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

      Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

      Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

      @asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
