Yes, apparently because they were leaking too much.

So, they are going to discontinue all their pens?

The Edson rumour started about a year before it ended production.

IF Waterman intend discontinuing the Carene we will still be able to buy s/h, in new condition, for the next 100 year or more.

Nothing on their website (though the last news update as early last year).

As a matter of fact, I wouldn't mind Sanford taking care of Waterman's website every once in a while

Gosh!

So with everything else gone or going, does this mean that the Perspective is now the Waterman flagship pen? I love mine to bits, but it seems a heavy weight to place on those slim little shoulders.

Another dead-end pen in my collection.

I have a feeling this was English humour / tongue in cheek.....

I sold my black one and only have one amber left, but I think I still have a spare CI or S nib tucked away in a drawer somewhere. My black Carene with it's M nib was never used, so it had to go.

With the Edson and the Carene gone, I really hope they've got something new coming soon.

I would love to see a return of a #8 size or original Patrician size nib. I'd be all over a c/c update of the original Waterman 18 eyedropper.

I still have the Amber fine and blue ef and the black medium is, surprisingly to me, the one I usually use. Somehow I feel discontinuation of Carene would be heartbreaking, like something going out of reach somehow. Well, that's how I felt about the Parker 51, and they are all over the earth.

I hope so too. I think otherwise there won't be much left aside from pens for some enthusiasts and mostly pens used as a gift.

Thank you, Force, for verifying this.

From Waterman CS,

We have recently discontinued few finishes of the Waterman Carene. The pen still belongs to our connection but in fewer colors than before.

You may see in our website still all the full collection because these finishes can still be purchased from several retailers.

So we can all have a BIG sigh of relief.
