I liked it in vis' review, the color seems quite similar to the Burmingham Railroad Steam though much, much lighter and possibly too light judging by her samples. Your sample here shows it to be more than dark enough.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

I would say visvamitra'sreview is more representative of the ink as a whole.

The ink is fairly paper dependant. Lighter & shadier on Tomoe and darker and less so on more aborbant papers.

This is simply a "rambling" on Rhodia Uni 19 and some watercolour paper :)

(Since the originals seem to have disappeared from being displayed in-line:)

How did you do that?

Sadly, as all the images are on my server, since the update they just appear as typed links 😐

I can't find a gallery in his name, but the images are on FPN, so I assume he attached them to his post.  If you want your images to show, you need to do one of the following:

  1. Have an httpS:// link to your site (requires your site to have an SSL certificate)
  2. Attach them to a post (but the limit is pretty small, so you won't be able to do this for that many images, and it's not recommended except for non-image files)
  3. Create a gallery album and upload your images there (puts a copy of them on FPN).  I forget the limits for galleries, but they're very generous.  (Edit: Once the image is in a gallery, you can add it to a post via the "Other Media" button at the lower right of the editor window.)

☝︎ which also puts a practically indelible copy of each file on FPN's server, just to be clear

100 images per album, no file size limit on individual images, but anything larger than 1000 pixels in one of the dimensions will be downsized when displayed in-line.

The total number of albums a forum member is allowed to create is different for different levels of membership.

Let's Encrypt makes this fairly easy & free.

An image site like Imgur could probably work too, as a solution.

Ha ha ha haaaaaaa. 😂

None of it makes any sense to me. I've no idea who my site is hosted with or what language it's using. I will ask a friend and see if I can get as SSL certificate set up.

Even if you do, the (previously) inline images in your older posts will continue to only show as URLs starting with http:// and you won't be able to restore them yourself.

The key thing now, in my opinion, is to decide on your approach to posting images in FPN discussion threads going forward.

Okay, my site now has an SSL certificate. ( I love my friends)

I originally kept all the images on my server so as not to burden the FPN one. 🥺 Was I being silly? Should I just upload using the paperclip thingy below in future? 🤷‍♂️

I can't comment on “should”, because that would amount to telling you what to do when there are several valid, legitimate and viable alternatives.

The FPN forum administrator has expressed his preference that images are uploaded into the FPN Image Gallery, which in a way is a replacement for the old image ‘Upload’ facility before the platform upgrade, instead of just inserting images as attachments to posts in the current/same browser tab as one composes the text (which is as what I interpreted your reference to “the paperclip thingy”). I agree with that from an information management perspective, irrespective of technical/database administration considerations; but very few users here actually bother with populating, updating or utilising the metadata that goes with uploading files into the FPN Image Gallery.

There are advantages (namely some semblance of privacy by way of security-through-obscurity, and limited built-in traceability to where one has used/posted an image uploaded as an attachment) and disadvantages (reduced ‘searchability‘ for everyone including the uploader himself, and the risk of running out of quota which stands at ~19.43MB per user) of using “the paperclip thingy” approach. I use it sometimes, but that isn't my primary method of embedding inline images.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. Same here.  Now I just upload into galleries, and rest all secure in the knowledge that long after I'm dead and my domain name has gone up for sale, my images and reviews will be oohed and aahed over by generation after generation of fountain-pen-using space-ship pilots....

I think once you get used to using galleries, you'll enjoy that more than using the paperclip thingy.  I'm saving the paperclip thingy for attachments that are not pictures, since it's the only place where you can put non-pictures.  Certainly, the rest of us will enjoy browsing any galleries you make. :D

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
