Non-Stain Inks For Vac700R

Hello,

While on vacation across the country, I found a neat little stationary shop. I decided to go in for a look and...I was completely and utterly overwhelmed by how many fountain pens this place had!!! They carried Pelikan, Graf von Faber Castell, and even Montblanc! Long story short, I've never seen so many fountain pens in a shop before, and since I was on vacation, I felt inclined to pull the trigger on a Vac700R (I've been eyeing it for a while and have been saving up for a pelikan m200, but hey, I was on vacation and it was about 100$ less 😎). I was wondering, are there any inks that are notorious for staining the barrel of the Vac700R? If so, what should be avoided and what inks are recommended?

Thank you!

In addition to the mentioned colours, I remember someone said not to use iron gall inks: it will (or might? I am not sure, so take this with a grain of salt) react with the metal shaft and therefore, corrode it

I have had no problem with Diamine Red Dragon in TWSBI pens (700r, 580). Also my wife uses Diamine shimmer purple ink and lets it sit for months in her Eco and it does not stain and much to my amazement it did not clog. I have had Pilot Ku-Jaku stain a Pelikan but a soak in pen wash fixed it back up to clear no problem.

I understand some Noodles inks have staining issues.

I have used Sailor Kiwa-guro ink for years in pens ranging from TWSBIs to antique celluloid (celluloid nitrate) and have had zero staining issues. It is made from nono particles of carbon (bamboo smoke I think) so you wouldn't expect it to stain - it isn't like a dye.

So, here was my BSB in a Vac story.

What I discovered is that I can remove stains from TWSBIs so even if it looks stained it can be removed.

Personally, I went from this:

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I had a question about this as well, but I didn't want to start a whole thread:

Is Pilot Blue-Black alright to put in demonstrators like the vac700? I was thinking of picking up an Eco, but I want to use Pilot Blue-Black. I know it has some red sheen and I was concerned that would stain, but I haven't seen anything reported on it.

I have read reports of Pilot Blue staining, but not Blue-Black yet.

I doubt you will have any trouble at all. Go for it.

Hey everyone!

Here it's an old thread but I didn't want to start a whole new one as my question is also reg Vac 700.
I've been using a twsbi 580 diamond and LOOOVEEEEE it so much that I decided to get a Vac 700, but the iris edition of it.
Any ideas whether the colors of Vac 700 iris come off or tarnish in time? That's the only thing that makes me hesitate...

Thanks a million!

In my signature link you can see that stains come out of the Vac 700.  Oops, not there, give me a minute and I'll find it.  Found it.  This was my Vac 700 that I lent to my ex husband.
