wow!!! what a wealth of information. Thanks MrThoth, so very grateful you could take out the time and post this. Thanks a million.

Sure, I can do that. ;) If I weren't such a lazy (bleep) I'd already have a website up that I could point you to, but instead you'll have to settle for this plain ol' list for now. ;) This list is current through October 2018, and includes as its latest releases the 2019 Year of the Pig pen and the three Scuderia Ferrari pens. I own all of these pens except for the AT0047-22 Townsend Tango and one mentioned at the end of the list. The hunt continues, but with little luck these days.

................

Enjoy your pens

Have a nice day

Folks,

Sorry to dig up this old thread (though there are sadly too few pictures). I'd be very grateful if MrThoth could say whether the SKU numbers listed in two sections divide between years or placed of manufacture? I think that the three-digit numbers are the older designs. Are they all US/Ireland made and the ones prefixed AT made in China, do you know?

Thanks

I am sorry to say that I don't know for sure. The three-number SKUs -- 656, 676, 706, and so on -- are older dates. At some point (I'm not sure when), Cross switched to using the AT00 SKUs -- AT0046-4, AT0046-D48, and so on. If I had to guess, I imagine it had something to do with a change in manufacturing (such as moving it all to China), but I don't know for sure.

For that matter, there are still several SKUs I'm uncertain about. For example, I don't know if the Presidential pens (so far I only have one for Obama) have a separate SKU, or just use the SKU for the basic pen involved. Same for the two Concorde souvenir editions, and the Quartz Blue Townsend I got from the George W. Bush Presidential Library. One day I may just have to march into A.T. Cross headquarters, plop myself down on a couch in the lobby, and refuse to leave until an executive provides satisfactory answers to all my questions about Townsends (of which I have a loooong list ;) ).

My only Cross Townsend- a Frankenpen in gold and gun metal. The original had an engraved cap from someone I can't stand....so I dismantled the cap and replaced it with a gold capsleeve from an orphan cap off Ebay. I really like the two toned look of this pen.

Also shown is my small collection of original Cross Century fountain pens. None of these pens get much routine use these days...but occasionally when I get in the mood for some fancy writin' I might reach for the Townsend.
