First Look At A Modified Zebra G Flex Nib

Recommended Posts

A friend bought me a few fountain pens from Hanoi ( VietNam) . Among these , I found one fitted with a modified Zebra G flex nib . I have never seen a Zebra nib modified this way on ebay or Amazon.com . From the look of it, it is well manufactured . I do not know whether these nibs are modified in VN or imported as such from Japan or China . You can certainly buy these modified nibs in VN but buying on line , I am not sure ! Here is the website :

This modified nib can fit in a grip section holding a No. 5 nib ( i.e. interior diameter of the section is less than 6. mmm ) . As you can see in the attached photos, the modified Zebra flex nib is tapered off toward the end .

My question:

1) Does Zebra Ltd. offer this modified version ?

2) Have you seen this modified Zebra flex nib on any other fountain pens on the market ?

Oh, that's very interesting! #6 nibs are usually too long for me as I like to hold a pen near the tip, so a Zebra G that's #5 sized would be great to play with!

That is really cool.

There are two other nibs that are the same size as the original Zebra-G

I wonder if you can do that with a Leonardt Principal & a Brause Rose also?

That does not look like a standard, factory mod to me. That modification only makes sense if you're going to put it in a fountain pen.

Maybe Zerba is making a new line of G nibs modified for fountain pens, but I've seen nor heard a peeb about such a thing. If they did, I'd also expect it to be shorter, and not just narrower.

Note that a standard Zebra flexnib can be fitted in Jinhao 159, X450 & X750 with minor modification or , in some cases , other pens with a #6 nib . The modified Zebra flexnib apparently re-manufactured from the original standard Zebra flexnib to fit in some fountain pens with #5 nib . As I am not sure on this assertion, I post this thread for further comments & opinions .
