Belomo 10X Loupe Vs Lighted Loupes

I've found that my lighted cordless drill is much more pleasurable to use than the non-lighted one I'd previously owned.

I know the Belomo has a great bang-for-the-buck reputation but are there any decent LED lighted loupes (I see a lot of generic ones) in the same $30 price range that approach the Belomo's image resolving quality and image circle?

I see lots of lighted loupes at the price of the Belomo, or cheaper, but how do they compare to the Belomo's image resolving quality, build, and size of the image circle?

From a practical, in-use scenario, I did not notice a difference. Belomo is good glass no doubt, but I need the light rather than absolute perfection in the glass and a name. In short, for me, no difference.

The Pentooling site has several nice ones: I quite like the Grobet triplet.

Nice. Thanks. I see Amazon has it for a dollar more but free 1-day delivery, so that's in the running alongside the Belomo.

I picked up a cheap Chinese loupe a few years ago at the University of Pittsburgh bookstore. It was inexpensive (I think I paid about ten or fifteen bucks for it), and has an LED light. Is it as good as a Belomo? I dunno, probably not. Is it good enough for my purposes? Sure. For me the light was more important than the super sharp lens.

I did like one that someone showed me awhile back that where there is a gradient measurement so you can actually figure out a nib's actual line width (in case the nib isn't marked), but I don't know where to get one of those. But if I ever tracked down one of that style, it would be as an addendum to -- not a replacement of -- the loupe I already have.

I have a 30X Chinese lighted loupe that gives the same magnification as a 10X Belomo.

If I have enough light I don't worry which I use.

I expect the good coated glass loupe to last me the rest of my life.....I don't know the battery live of the Chinese one but don't expect much.....don't know if it's cheaper to buy a new one or a battery....that is the problem when one buys cheap....that's what you get.

Good glass, a good grind and the proper coating makes a better loupe.

The Chinese it seems insist on marking a 10X loupe 30X depending on ignorance to have someone buy a 30X.....for less than a good 10X. More for less, but it's not more....it is lighted. If you need that.
